Install in OpenClaw
/install neural-memory
Description
Associative memory with spreading activation for persistent, intelligent recall. Use PROACTIVELY when: (1) You need to remember facts, decisions, errors, or...
Usage Guidance
Install only if you want an agent memory system that can automatically store and reuse facts, decisions, TODOs, and preferences from conversations. Review or disable autoCapture and autoContext if available, avoid storing secrets or regulated data, and periodically inspect or delete the local brain database.
Capability Assessment
Purpose & Capability
The stated purpose is persistent associative memory, and the documented tools, local SQLite brain, recall, TODOs, and causal tracing fit that purpose.
Instruction Scope
The skill asks agents to use it proactively at new task start and after decisions or errors, which creates broad automatic memory use rather than clearly user-requested use.
Install Mechanism
Installation is disclosed as pip/npm/OpenClaw or MCP configuration; static scan and VirusTotal supplied no malicious findings, but the npm plugin path is separate from the single SKILL.md artifact reviewed here.
Credentials
The documented storage is local at ~/.neuralmemory/brains/<brain>.db and claims no external service use unless optional embeddings are configured, which is proportionate for a memory tool.
Persistence & Privilege
The recommended OpenClaw plugin config enables autoContext and autoCapture by default, persists memories across /new, and does not prominently describe consent, retention, deletion, or sensitive-data limits.
How to Use
  1. Make sure OpenClaw is installed (local or Docker)
  2. Run the install command in chat: /install neural-memory
  3. After installation, invoke the skill by name or use /neural-memory
  4. Provide required inputs per the skill's parameter spec and get structured output
