Description
Associative memory with spreading activation for persistent, intelligent recall. Use PROACTIVELY when: (1) You need to remember facts, decisions, errors, or context across sessions (2) User asks "do you remember..." or references past conversations (3) Starting a new task — inject relevant context from memory (4) After making decisions or encountering errors — store for future reference (5) User asks "why did X happen?" — trace causal chains through memory Zero LLM dependency. Neural graph with Hebbian learning, memory decay, contradiction detection, and temporal reasoning.
Usage Guidance
Install only if you want an agent-wide persistent memory layer. Review the OpenClaw config before enabling it, consider setting autoCapture, autoContext, autoFlush, and autoConsolidate to false until you opt in, and avoid storing secrets, credentials, regulated data, or private conversations unless you have a retention and deletion plan.
Capability Assessment
Credentials
The plugin defaults autoContext and autoCapture to true, stores memories under ~/.neuralmemory, and the installed tool surface includes code/document indexing, directory watching, cloud sync, and Telegram backup capabilities that go beyond the short skill tool summary.
Install Mechanism
Installation uses disclosed pip and npm packages and the inspected npm package has no install script, but the skill metadata is confusing because it labels a pip install as a node package and the plugin dynamically exposes all MCP tools from the Python server.
Instruction Scope
The skill asks agents to use memory proactively at session start, after decisions or errors, and across new tasks, which is broad enough to capture or reintroduce sensitive or unrelated context without a specific user request.
Persistence & Privilege
Persistent cross-session memory is central to the skill and disclosed, but default automatic capture, injection across /new, startup consolidation, and lack of prominent consent, retention, or deletion guidance create a material review concern.
Purpose & Capability
The stated purpose, persistent associative memory for agents, is coherent with local SQLite storage, recall tools, auto-context, auto-capture, and memory lifecycle features.
How to Use
  1. Make sure OpenClaw is installed (local or Docker)
  2. Run the install command in chat: /install neural-memory
  3. After installation, invoke the skill by name or use /neural-memory
  4. Provide required inputs per the skill's parameter spec and get structured output
