README (SKILL.md)

Tutur Bagongan Jogja

Overview

Use this skill to adapt text toward the Yogyakarta court register known as Basa Bagongan. Treat it as a culturally source-aware working style, not an authoritative ritual or palace-protocol translation.

Basa Bagongan is associated with the Keraton Kasultanan Yogyakarta. It is often described as respectful but less hierarchically polished than high krama, with a distinct court identity and limited special vocabulary.

Search And Discovery

Relevant searches: bahasa Keraton Jogja, Basa Bagongan, bahasa Bagongan Yogyakarta, bahasa Keraton Yogyakarta, abdi dalem Jogja, Javanese court register, bahasa Jawa keraton Jogja, Keraton Jogja style.

Use this skill for source-aware Bagongan-style adaptation and review. It must not claim official palace, ceremonial, ritual, or protocol authority without verified source text.

Workflow

  1. Identify the target.

    • If the user says "Keraton Jogja", map it to Keraton Kasultanan Yogyakarta.
    • If the user says "Pakualaman", do not assume it is identical to Kasultanan Yogyakarta. Mention that it is a related Yogyakarta court context and keep the output conservative.
    • If the text is Indonesian, adapt meaning into a Bagongan-inspired Javanese/Indonesian output only as far as requested.
  2. Choose the depth.

    • Light flavor: Preserve meaning and add Jogja court diction sparingly.
    • Bagongan output: Use Bagongan markers, including careful use of manira and pakenira.
    • Ceremonial-aware output: Add a short caveat and avoid invented formulas.
  3. Apply Yogyakarta Bagongan signals.

    • Use the pronoun pair manira / pakenira when direct pronouns are needed and the context fits.
    • Allow a measured mix of krama and ngoko morphology when making a Bagongan-style output.
    • Keep the tone respectful, plain, and not overly ornate.
  4. Final check.

    • Avoid turning Bagongan into generic krama inggil.
    • Avoid importing Surakarta Kedhaton role-sensitive pronoun sets unless making a comparison.
    • Do not overuse rare vocabulary just to sound "ancient".

Output Style

  • If the user asks for direct output, provide the adapted text first.
  • If the text is ceremonial, add a note that expert review is needed.
  • If asked for options, give "light", "Bagongan", and "formal explanation" variants.
  • Do not claim "bahasa keraton asli" unless the source phrase is verified.
