Install in OpenClaw
/install homeassistant-skill
Description
Inspect and control Home Assistant using REST and supported WebSocket workflows. Discover capabilities, action schemas, device/entity registries, Assist, automations, calendars, energy statistics and diagnostics. Use when the user asks to inspect, troubleshoot or operate an existing Home Assistant installation; not for general smart-home product advice or unrelated device questions.
Usage Guidance
Install only if you intend to let an agent inspect and, when you authorize it, operate your Home Assistant devices. Use a dedicated least-privilege Home Assistant account where possible, keep HA_TOKEN in a private environment or secret store, prefer verified HTTPS, and require explicit confirmation before any lock, alarm, garage door, security automation, notification, TTS, script, scene, or broad batch action.
Capability Assessment
ℹ Credentials
Network access to the configured Home Assistant origin and a bearer token are necessary for this integration, but the token can carry broad household authority and local HTTP is explicitly warned as plaintext.
✓ Install Mechanism
Installation is ordinary skill installation with declared dependencies on HA_URL, HA_TOKEN, curl, and jq; the optional WebSocket dependency is a bounded Python package requirement and no hidden installer or remote payload execution was found.
ℹ Instruction Scope
The skill documents sensitive scopes such as locks, alarms, garage doors, presence, calendars, templates, notifications, and TTS, and requires exact targets plus explicit confirmation for security-sensitive actions.
✓ Persistence & Privilege
No persistence, background service, scheduled task, memory modification, privilege escalation, or credential-file searching was found; scripts read credentials from environment variables and an explicit local JSON file only for validation.
✓ Purpose & Capability
The artifact's purpose is to inspect and operate an existing Home Assistant installation; REST/WebSocket reads, service-call examples, calendars, forecasts, diagnostics, and device-control examples all fit that purpose.
How to Use
  1. Make sure OpenClaw is installed (local or Docker)
  2. Run the install command in chat: /install homeassistant-skill
  3. After installation, invoke the skill by name or use /homeassistant-skill
  4. Provide required inputs per the skill's parameter spec and get structured output
