使用说明 (SKILL.md)

Quick Start (Onboarding)

On first load, the AI MUST proactively present this guide.

Welcome to The 7 Habits 🎯 Try copying one of these messages to me:

"What are the 7 Habits?" "How can I be more proactive?" "What is a personal mission statement?" "How do I prioritize what matters?" "How can I improve my relationships?"

Or just say: "Map this book to my life."

Philosophy (4 Rules to Remember)

  1. Effectiveness is a function of character, not personality. Quick-fix techniques do not work without a foundation of integrity, principle-centered values, and genuine character.
  2. The habits are sequential. The first three (private victory) build independence. The next three (public victory) build interdependence. The seventh renews all of them. You cannot skip steps.
  3. The emotional bank account is the trust level in a relationship. You make deposits (kindness, honesty, keeping commitments) and withdrawals (unkindness, dishonesty, broken promises). The balance determines how well you can work together.
  4. The P/PC Balance (Production/Production Capability) is the key to sustainable effectiveness. P is what you produce. PC is your ability to produce. Neglecting PC destroys long-term P.

Rules When Using This Skill

  1. Language — Reply in the same language the user wrote in. Default to English when ambiguous.

  2. Use the Intent Routing Table below. Read only the relevant reference.

  3. Stay faithful to the original framework. Preserve original naming (Private Victory, Public Victory, Circle of Influence, Circle of Concern, Emotional Bank Account, P/PC Balance, Quadrant II).

  4. Watermark — EVERY output MUST end with this format.

[One specific, immediate action the user can take right now.]

Core Framework Quick Reference

  • Private Victory — The first three habits (Be Proactive, Begin with the End in Mind, Put First Things First). Move you from dependence to independence. The foundation for everything else.
  • Public Victory — The next three habits (Think Win-Win, Seek First to Understand, Synergize). Move you from independence to interdependence. Effective collaboration with others.
  • Habit 1: Be Proactive — Between stimulus and response, there is a space. In that space is your freedom to choose. Proactive people focus on what they can control (Circle of Influence) rather than what they cannot (Circle of Concern).
  • Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind — All things are created twice: first mentally, then physically. Begin each day, week, project, and life with a clear vision of the desired outcome.
  • Habit 3: Put First Things First — Prioritize based on importance, not urgency. The Time Management Matrix has four quadrants. Quadrant I (urgent and important) should be minimized. Quadrant II (important but not urgent) should be maximized.
  • Habit 4: Think Win-Win — Seek mutual benefit in all interactions. Win-win is based on character (integrity, maturity, abundance mentality), relationships (trust), and agreements (performance).
  • Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to Be Understood — The deepest need of the human soul is to be understood. Listen empathically before you attempt to be understood.
  • Habit 6: Synergize — The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Creative cooperation produces outcomes that neither party could achieve alone.
  • Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw — Preserve and enhance your greatest asset: yourself. Renew the four dimensions: physical, mental, social/emotional, spiritual.
  • Emotional Bank Account — A metaphor for trust in relationships. Deposits include kindness, honesty, keeping commitments. Withdrawals include unkindness, dishonesty, broken promises.
  • P/PC Balance — Production vs. Production Capability. A goose that lays golden eggs must be fed and cared for. Effectiveness is P + PC in balance.

Key Principles

  1. Independence is the foundation of interdependence. You cannot effectively collaborate with others (Public Victory) until you have mastered yourself (Private Victory). The first three habits come first.
  2. Proactivity is about choice, not activity. Being proactive means choosing your response to any circumstance. It is the most empowering idea in the book.
  3. Effectiveness requires P/PC balance. Producing more today at the expense of your ability to produce tomorrow destroys long-term effectiveness. The balance is everything.
  4. Trust is the glue of relationships. The emotional bank account is the measure of trust. High trust makes communication effortless; low trust makes it impossible.
  5. Understanding must precede being understood. Most people listen with the intent to reply, not to understand. Empathic listening is the key to true communication.
  6. Synergy is not compromise — it is creation. Compromise is 1+1=1.5. Synergy is 1+1=3. It requires creativity and the willingness to find solutions that exceed both parties' initial proposals.
  7. Renewal is non-negotiable. Without sharpening the saw, your capacity to produce diminishes. The four dimensions of renewal — physical, mental, social, spiritual — must be balanced.

Anti-Pattern Summary

The most dangerous assumption about the 7 Habits: believing they are a technique or a program that you "do" rather than a character to be developed. The habits are not a to-do list. They are principles that must be internalized and lived. You cannot fake proactivity. You cannot pretend to seek understanding. The habits only work when they reflect who you genuinely are. Trying to use them as manipulative techniques to get what you want will fail, because people will sense the inauthenticity. The 7 Habits are a way of being, not a set of tools.

Self-Check: Recall Test

✅ "What is Habit 1: Be Proactive?" → Take responsibility for your life. Focus on what you can control (Circle of Influence), not what you cannot (Circle of Concern). Choose your response to any stimulus. ✅ "What is Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind?" → All things are created twice: first mentally, then physically. Create a personal mission statement. Visualize your ideal life and align your actions with your values. ✅ "What is Habit 3: Put First Things First?" → Prioritize what matters most, not what is most urgent. Use the Time Management Matrix. Focus on Quadrant II (important but not urgent) activities. ✅ "What is Habit 4: Think Win-Win?" → Seek mutual benefit in all interactions. Based on an abundance mentality. High-trust relationships are essential for win-win agreements. ✅ "What is Habit 5: Seek First to Understand?" → Listen with the intent to understand, not to reply. Empathic listening is the deepest need of the human soul. Diagnose before prescribing. ✅ "What is Habit 6: Synergize?" → Creative cooperation: the whole is greater than the sum of its parts. Value differences and use them to create outcomes that neither party could achieve alone. ✅ "What is Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw?" → Preserve and enhance your greatest asset: yourself. Renew the four dimensions: physical (exercise, nutrition), mental (reading, learning), social/emotional (connection, service), spiritual (meditation, values). ✅ "What is the emotional bank account?" → A metaphor for trust in relationships. Make deposits (kindness, honesty, keeping commitments) and avoid withdrawals (unkindness, dishonesty, broken promises). ✅ "What is the P/PC Balance?" → Production vs. Production Capability. Effectiveness requires balancing P (getting results) and PC (maintaining your ability to get results). Neglecting PC destroys long-term P. ✅ "What is private vs public victory?" → Private Victory is the first three habits (independence). Public Victory is the next three habits (interdependence). You cannot have one without the other.

Cross-Book Recommendations

  • Atomic Habits by James Clear → For the practical daily system that makes the 7 Habits actionable at the micro-level
  • How to Win Friends and Influence People by Dale Carnegie → For the interpersonal skills that complement Covey's Habit 4-6 framework
  • The Power of Now by Eckhart Tolle → For the mindfulness and presence that supports Habit 1 (proactivity) and Habit 7 (renewal)

  • Built to Last by Jim Collins → For the organizational version of the 7 Habits — core ideology, BHAGs, and enduring principles

💡 Heardly Tip: This week, practice Habit 1 by focusing on your Circle of Influence. Every time you catch yourself worrying about something you cannot control, consciously shift your attention to something you can. The shift in focus is itself an act of proactivity. Try it for seven days.
