# Connect to ETP server
es.exe -connect "username:password@hostname:port"

# Use drive links
es.exe -connect "hostname" -drive-links

# Use FTP links
es.exe -connect "hostname" -ftp-links

Tips

  1. Use quotes for paths with spaces: es -p "C:\Program Files" "filename"
  2. Combine operators: es "file1 file2|file3"
  3. Use wildcards: *.txt, test_*.py, file?.ext
  4. Sort for better results: Use -sort and -sort-descending for large result sets
  5. Use regex for complex patterns: es -regex "pattern.*"
  6. Use functions for advanced filtering: size:>1mb datemodified:today
  7. Combine multiple functions: *.pdf size:>1mb datemodified:lastweek
  8. Use modifiers for precise matching: wfn:test.txt, ww:test, case:Test
  9. Use macros for quick filtering: audio:, pic:, video:
  10. Use operators for complex queries: file1 file2|file3 !file4
  11. Enable fast sorting for better performance: Check fast sort options in Indexes
  12. Use file lists for offline media: Create EFU files for CDs, DVDs, etc.
  13. Use HTTP server for remote access: Access files from phone or other devices
  14. Use ETP server for network access: Share files across computers
  15. Pause monitors when needed: Use /monitor_pause and /monitor_resume

Limitations

  • Only works on Windows
  • Requires Everything to be installed and running
  • Everything service must be enabled for real-time indexing
  • Some options require Everything to be running
  • Content search requires files to be indexed
  • NTFS/ReFS indexing doesn't follow junctions
  • Hard link changes only update first entry

Troubleshooting

"es.exe not found" Error

If you see this error, Everything is not installed or not in your PATH:

  1. Download and install Everything from https://www.voidtools.com
  2. Add Everything installation directory to your PATH
  3. Restart your terminal

No Results Found

If you get no results:

  1. Make sure Everything service is running
  2. Check if the path is correct
  3. Try rebuilding the Everything database:
    es.exe -reindex

Slow Search Performance

If search is slow:

  1. Make sure Everything service is enabled
  2. Check if NTFS indexing is enabled
  3. Enable fast sorting options
  4. Reduce the number of indexed volumes

ETP Server Won't Start

If ETP server fails to start with "bind failed 10048":

  1. Check if another FTP server is running on port 21
  2. Change ETP server port to 2121 or another available port
  3. Make sure port is not blocked by firewall

安全使用建议
This package appears to be a straightforward wrapper around Everything's es.exe and its documentation matches the included scripts, but review the small risks before installing/using: - Prefer the Python wrapper over the Bash script when possible: everything_search.py uses subprocess.run with argument lists (safer against injection). The Bash script builds a command string and runs eval, which can be exploited if inputs are not carefully sanitized. - jq is used by the Bash script for JSON output but is not listed as a requirement; install jq or avoid the Bash JSON mode. - Everything/es.exe can connect to remote ETP/FTP endpoints and can search the entire filesystem; avoid enabling or using remote connection options unless you understand the network exposure and credentials involved. - The skill's source is marked "unknown". If you don't trust the author, inspect the files yourself (the code is short and readable) or run in a sandbox/VM before granting it access to your real workstation. - If you plan to call these scripts programmatically, ensure you sanitize any user-provided query/path values to prevent shell injection (or use the Python script which handles arguments more safely). If you want a safer thumbs-up: confirm the publisher identity, ensure es.exe is the official Voidtools binary, and avoid running the bash script with untrusted inputs or elevated privileges.
功能分析
Type: OpenClaw Skill Name: everything-cli-search Version: 1.0.0 The skill bundle contains a significant shell injection vulnerability in 'scripts/es_search.sh'. The script uses 'eval' to execute a command string constructed from unsanitized user input (the search query), which allows for arbitrary command execution if a query contains shell metacharacters. While the Python implementation in 'scripts/everything_search.py' uses safer execution methods, the presence of this critical vulnerability in the bash script warrants a suspicious classification. No clear evidence of intentional malice or data exfiltration was observed.
能力评估
Purpose & Capability
Name/description match the included documentation and scripts: SKILL.md, README, EXAMPLES, and the Python/Bash wrappers are all designed to call Everything's es.exe CLI and expose its search features. No unrelated credentials, binaries, or surprising subsystems are requested.
Instruction Scope
The instructions correctly guide the user to install Everything and es.exe and show how to run search queries. However, the skill (and included docs) reference es.exe features that can access remote ETP/FTP servers (e.g., -connect "username:password@hostname:port") and the scripts will run arbitrary queries which could enumerate any files on the host. The Bash script (es_search.sh) builds a command string and calls eval on it, which can lead to shell injection if untrusted input reaches the script. The SKILL.md does not restrict or warn about using remote/ETP options and the examples include searching system and skill directories (expected) but these amplify the potential for sensitive-data exposure.
Install Mechanism
There is no automated install spec (instruction-only), which is low-risk. The repo contains documentation (INSTALL.md) that describes copying files into user OpenClaw directories, but no automated installer is present. Nothing in the package downloads or executes remote archives.
Credentials
The skill declares no required environment variables or credentials; the scripts accept an optional ES_PATH environment variable which is appropriate. One practical gap: the Bash script can output JSON via jq but jq is not documented as a required dependency. No secrets or unrelated credentials are requested by the skill itself.
Persistence & Privilege
The skill does not request always:true, does not declare elevated persistence, and does not modify other skills. It is user-invocable and can be invoked autonomously (platform default), which is expected for a search wrapper.
如何使用
  1. 确保已安装 OpenClaw(本地或 Docker 部署)
  2. 在对话框中输入安装命令:/install everything-cli-search
  3. 安装完成后,直接呼叫该 Skill 的名称或使用 /everything-cli-search 触发
  4. 根据 Skill 的参数说明提供必要输入,即可获得结构化输出
