功能描述
Box API integration with managed OAuth. Manage files, folders, collaborations, and cloud storage. Use this skill when users want to upload, download, share,...
使用说明 (SKILL.md)

Box

Access the Box API with managed OAuth authentication. Manage files, folders, collaborations, shared links, and cloud storage.

Quick Start

# Get current user info
python \x3C\x3C'EOF'
import urllib.request, os, json
req = urllib.request.Request('https://gateway.maton.ai/box/2.0/users/me')
req.add_header('Authorization', f'Bearer {os.environ["MATON_API_KEY"]}')
print(json.dumps(json.load(urllib.request.urlopen(req)), indent=2))
EOF

Base URL

https://gateway.maton.ai/box/2.0/{resource}

The gateway proxies requests to api.box.com/2.0 (for most endpoints) or upload.box.com/api/2.0 (for upload endpoints) and automatically injects your OAuth token. The routing is handled automatically based on the endpoint path.

Authentication

All requests require the Maton API key in the Authorization header:

Authorization: Bearer $MATON_API_KEY

Environment Variable: Set your API key as MATON_API_KEY:

export MATON_API_KEY="YOUR_API_KEY"

Getting Your API Key

  1. Sign in or create an account at maton.ai
  2. Go to maton.ai/settings
  3. Copy your API key

Connection Management

Manage your Box OAuth connections at https://ctrl.maton.ai.

List Connections

python \x3C\x3C'EOF'
import urllib.request, os, json
req = urllib.request.Request('https://ctrl.maton.ai/connections?app=box&status=ACTIVE')
req.add_header('Authorization', f'Bearer {os.environ["MATON_API_KEY"]}')
print(json.dumps(json.load(urllib.request.urlopen(req)), indent=2))
EOF

Create Connection

python \x3C\x3C'EOF'
import urllib.request, os, json
data = json.dumps({'app': 'box'}).encode()
req = urllib.request.Request('https://ctrl.maton.ai/connections', data=data, method='POST')
req.add_header('Authorization', f'Bearer {os.environ["MATON_API_KEY"]}')
req.add_header('Content-Type', 'application/json')
print(json.dumps(json.load(urllib.request.urlopen(req)), indent=2))
EOF

Get Connection

python \x3C\x3C'EOF'
import urllib.request, os, json
req = urllib.request.Request('https://ctrl.maton.ai/connections/{connection_id}')
req.add_header('Authorization', f'Bearer {os.environ["MATON_API_KEY"]}')
print(json.dumps(json.load(urllib.request.urlopen(req)), indent=2))
EOF

Response:

{
  "connection": {
    "connection_id": "{connection_id}",
    "status": "ACTIVE",
    "creation_time": "2026-02-08T21:14:41.808115Z",
    "last_updated_time": "2026-02-08T21:16:10.100340Z",
    "url": "https://connect.maton.ai/?session_token=...",
    "app": "box",
    "metadata": {}
  }
}

Open the returned url in a browser to complete OAuth authorization.

Delete Connection

python \x3C\x3C'EOF'
import urllib.request, os, json
req = urllib.request.Request('https://ctrl.maton.ai/connections/{connection_id}', method='DELETE')
req.add_header('Authorization', f'Bearer {os.environ["MATON_API_KEY"]}')
print(json.dumps(json.load(urllib.request.urlopen(req)), indent=2))
EOF

Specifying Connection

If you have multiple Box connections, specify which one to use with the Maton-Connection header:

python \x3C\x3C'EOF'
import urllib.request, os, json
req = urllib.request.Request('https://gateway.maton.ai/box/2.0/users/me')
req.add_header('Authorization', f'Bearer {os.environ["MATON_API_KEY"]}')
req.add_header('Maton-Connection', '{connection_id}')
print(json.dumps(json.load(urllib.request.urlopen(req)), indent=2))
EOF

If omitted, the gateway uses the default (oldest) active connection.

    },
    json={'parts': parts}
)
result = response.json()
print(f"Upload complete: {result['entries'][0]['name']}")

Notes

  • Root folder ID is 0
  • The gateway automatically routes upload endpoints to upload.box.com
  • Direct upload supports files up to 50 MB; use chunked upload for files up to 50 GB
  • Upload endpoints use multipart/form-data with attributes JSON and file fields
  • Chunked uploads require SHA-1 digest headers for integrity verification
  • Delete operations return 204 No Content on success
  • Use fields parameter to request specific fields and reduce response size
  • Shared links can have password protection and expiration dates
  • Some operations (list users, create webhooks) require enterprise admin permissions
  • ETags can be used for conditional updates with If-Match header
  • IMPORTANT: When piping curl output to jq or other commands, environment variables like $MATON_API_KEY may not expand correctly in some shell environments

Error Handling

Status Meaning
400 Missing Box connection or bad request
401 Invalid or missing Maton API key
403 Insufficient permissions for the operation
404 Resource not found
409 Conflict (e.g., item with same name exists)
429 Rate limited
4xx/5xx Passthrough error from Box API

Box errors include detailed messages:

{
  "type": "error",
  "status": 409,
  "code": "item_name_in_use",
  "message": "Item with the same name already exists"
}

Troubleshooting: API Key Issues

  1. Check that the MATON_API_KEY environment variable is set:
echo $MATON_API_KEY
  1. Verify the API key is valid by listing connections:
python \x3C\x3C'EOF'
import urllib.request, os, json
req = urllib.request.Request('https://ctrl.maton.ai/connections')
req.add_header('Authorization', f'Bearer {os.environ["MATON_API_KEY"]}')
print(json.dumps(json.load(urllib.request.urlopen(req)), indent=2))
EOF

Troubleshooting: Invalid App Name

  1. Ensure your URL path starts with box. For example:
  • Correct: https://gateway.maton.ai/box/2.0/users/me
  • Incorrect: https://gateway.maton.ai/2.0/users/me

Resources

安全使用建议
This skill is internally consistent: it proxies Box API calls through Maton.ai and needs your MATON_API_KEY to authenticate to Maton's gateway. Before installing, confirm you trust Maton.ai (review their privacy/security documentation), store your MATON_API_KEY securely, and be aware that actual Box access still requires you to complete OAuth via Maton's connect flow. Because the package source/homepage are not provided here, consider verifying the publisher (maton) and the Maton domains shown (gateway.maton.ai, ctrl.maton.ai, connect.maton.ai) independently before use. If you handle highly sensitive files, test with non-sensitive data first and restrict token scope / rotation where possible.
功能分析
Type: OpenClaw Skill Name: box Version: 1.0.5 The skill bundle provides a legitimate integration for the Box API via a managed OAuth gateway (maton.ai). The SKILL.md file contains comprehensive documentation and standard Python/JavaScript code snippets for managing files, folders, and collaborations. No evidence of malicious intent, data exfiltration of local secrets, or prompt injection was found; all operations are consistent with the stated purpose of cloud storage management.

Purpose & Capability
Name/description (Box API integration) matches the instructions: all network calls target Maton gateway/ctrl endpoints for Box and the skill only requests a MATON_API_KEY which is appropriate for a gateway-managed OAuth flow.
Instruction Scope
SKILL.md instructs only to call Maton endpoints, manage connections via Maton's control endpoint, and perform Box API operations through the gateway. It does not instruct reading local files, unrelated env vars, or sending data to unknown external endpoints.
Install Mechanism
No install spec or code files beyond documentation — instruction-only skill; nothing is written to disk or installed by the skill.
Credentials
Only MATON_API_KEY is required and is justified: Maton API key authenticates requests to the gateway. The SKILL.md explicitly states the key alone does not grant Box access without user OAuth, which matches expectations.
Persistence & Privilege
Skill is not always-enabled and uses the platform default (agent-invocable). It does not request system-wide config changes or credentials for other services.
如何使用
  1. 确保已安装 OpenClaw(本地或 Docker 部署)
  2. 在对话框中输入安装命令:/install box
  3. 安装完成后,直接呼叫该 Skill 的名称或使用 /box 触发
  4. 根据 Skill 的参数说明提供必要输入,即可获得结构化输出
版本历史
v1.0.5
- Clarified security model: MATON_API_KEY does not grant Box access by itself—OAuth user authorization is required for Box connection. - Updated description to emphasize strict Box access scoping per user OAuth authorization. - No functional or API changes. This version improves documentation clarity around authentication and access control.
v1.0.4
- Updated example responses to use `{connection_id}` as a placeholder instead of a concrete ID, improving clarity for users with multiple connections. - No functional changes to the skill or API usage; documentation wording was updated for generalization and clarity.
v1.0.3
- Clarified that the gateway automatically routes upload endpoints between api.box.com and upload.box.com based on the request path. - Expanded upload documentation: now includes detailed request/response for uploading new files and new file versions, supported fields, and points out support for chunked uploads for large files. - Updated upload examples to use the correct endpoint and note the distinction for chunked upload. - Content and usage details for uploading files are now more explicit and user-friendly. - No changes to core features or API endpoints; strictly improves documentation clarity and upload file guidance.
v1.0.2
- Added new metadata fields under the `clawdbot` key, including `emoji` and required environment variables (`MATON_API_KEY`). - No changes to skill functionality or API usage.
v1.0.1
No user-visible changes in this release. - Version bump only; no file or documentation changes detected.
v1.0.0
Initial release of the Box skill for cloud storage and file management: - Integrates with Box API via managed OAuth for secure access. - Supports file and folder operations: upload, download, organize, copy, update, and delete. - Provides collaboration and shared link management. - Uses Maton API key for authentication and supports connection management for multiple Box accounts. - Includes Python code samples and detailed API usage documentation.
