Self-Improving Agent Framework

Make any AI agent better at learning from mistakes, improving continuously, and passing knowledge forward.

This framework gives AI agents the ability to:

  • Learn from failures and correct themselves
  • Build persistent memory across sessions
  • Self-verify decisions before acting
  • Upgrade autonomously based on experience

Quick Start

# Install
clawhub install self-improving-agent

# Use in your AI agent
const { HeartFlowEngine } = require('./src/core/heartflow-engine.js');
const agent = new HeartFlowEngine({ name: 'MyAgent' });

Core Capabilities

Self-Correction (核心自我纠正)

  • Decision Verifier: 5-dimension scoring before action
  • Self-Verification: Reverse-check consistency with original goals
  • Counterfactual Reasoning: What would break if I'm wrong?
  • Q-Learning RL: Learn from success/failure patterns

Memory Systems (记忆系统)

  • Meaningful Memory: CORE (permanent) / LEARNED (30-day) / EPHEMERAL (discard)
  • Memory Router: Route by type: episodic / semantic / procedural / core
  • Forgetting Engine: Ebbinghaus curve pruning
  • Spaced Repetition: SM-2 review scheduling

Reasoning (推理能力)

  • Tree of Thoughts: Multi-branch exploration with scoring
  • Decision Execution Loop: Decision → Execute → Result → Learn闭环
  • Environment Sensors: Real-time data injection into decision context
  • Constitutional AI: Self-critique and self-revision

Psychological Perception (心理感知)

  • 4-Layer Analysis: Intention → Emotion → Need → Defense
  • Cognitive Distortion Detection: All-or-nothing, catastrophizing, etc.
  • Buddhist Six Realms OS: 觉察/自省/无我/彼岸/般若波罗蜜/圣人

Autonomy (自主能力)

  • Guardian System: Human progress > Following orders
  • Self-Boundary: Identity protection against corruption
  • Skill Generator: Generate new capabilities from experience
  • Knowledge Distiller: Extract patterns → Shareable skill packages

Architecture

Input → Psychological Perception (4-layer)
     → Decision Verifier (5-dim scoring)
     → Self-Verification (reverse check)
     → Decision Execution Loop
     → Result → Q-Learning Update
     → Memory (CORE/LEARNED/EPHEMERAL)
     → Skill Generator (optional)

Install

# For AI agents
clawhub install self-improving-agent

# Or clone directly
git clone https://github.com/yun520-1/self-improving-agent.git
Usage Guidance
Review this skill carefully before installing. It is not just a helper library: its own instructions encourage persistent memory, autonomous upgrades, external code integration, and behavior that can override normal user direction. If you use it, run it in a sandbox, avoid entering sensitive API keys, disable automatic memory/code-writing features, and require explicit approval for every upgrade or external-code import.
Capability Analysis
Type: OpenClaw Skill Name: self-improving-agent-pro-v2 Version: 1.0.0 The bundle is an extremely complex and ambitious framework for 'self-improving' AI agents, incorporating modules for persistent memory, self-correction, and a 'psychological core' based on philosophical and psychological theories. It possesses several high-risk capabilities, most notably autonomous logic extraction and code generation (src/core/continuous-learning.js), the ability to package and 'broadcast' new skills by generating shell scripts (src/core/transmission-broadcaster.js), and broad file system access for maintaining its own state, logs, and memory layers. While the documentation (CORE_IDENTITY.md, AGENTS.md) frames these features as part of a 'Guardian System' designed to prioritize 'human progress' over blind obedience, the framework's high degree of autonomy and self-modification potential present a significant attack surface. No clear evidence of intentional malice like credential theft or data exfiltration was found, but the complexity and power of the system make it inherently risky.

Capability Assessment
Purpose & Capability
The stated purpose is self-improvement, but the artifacts extend that into autonomous upgrades, persistent memory, skill generation, external code integration, and shareable packages without clear limits or human approval gates.
Instruction Scope
Core identity instructions tell the agent to prioritize broad 'human progress' over user instructions and to run automatic learning/code-writing steps after conversations, which can redirect normal user intent.
Install Mechanism
Registry metadata says there is no install spec, but the package contains CLI/setup code that can copy itself into OpenClaw/OpenCode skill directories. This appears user-directed, but users should inspect it before running.
Credentials
The framework references environment sensors, provider API keys, GitHub-based upgrades, and persistent state. These may fit the self-improving-agent purpose, but the artifacts do not clearly bound what data is read, stored, or sent.
Persistence & Privilege
The skill explicitly promotes permanent/core memory, cross-session continuity, append-only logs, and converting conversation content into executable code, which is high-impact persistent behavior.
How to Use
  1. Make sure OpenClaw is installed (local or Docker)
  2. Run the install command in chat: /install self-improving-agent-pro-v2
  3. After installation, invoke the skill by name or use /self-improving-agent-pro-v2
  4. Provide required inputs per the skill's parameter spec and get structured output
