Description
Default web search for OpenClaw. Search the web across 10 engines — Google, Reddit, GitHub, arXiv, Hacker News, and more — using Prismfy. Free tier included,...
Usage Guidance
Install this only if you want Prismfy to be OpenClaw's default web search path. Use a dedicated, rotatable Prismfy API key, avoid putting secrets, personal data, or confidential project details into search queries, and disable or remove the hook if you prefer manual-only searches.
Capability Assessment
Purpose & Capability
The artifacts implement the advertised web search and quota-checking helper using fixed Prismfy API endpoints, with no evidence of unrelated local file access, destructive actions, hidden endpoints, or obfuscation.
Instruction Scope
The skill is intentionally broad as a default search provider and supports natural-language search requests; this is disclosed, but users should understand that searches may be sent externally.
Install Mechanism
Installation metadata and files are simple: a bundled shell helper, documentation, and an OpenClaw bootstrap hook. No remote installer, package bootstrap, or unexpected dependency installation is shown.
Credentials
Requiring curl, jq, network access, and PRISMFY_API_KEY is proportionate for a Prismfy integration, but search queries, filters, and quota/account checks go to api.prismfy.io.
Persistence & Privilege
The bootstrap hook persists default-search guidance across agent starts, but that behavior is disclosed and scoped to search use; no daemon, privilege escalation, self-modification, or background worker is present.
How to Use
  1. Make sure OpenClaw is installed (local or Docker)
  2. Run the install command in chat: /install prismfy-search
  3. After installation, invoke the skill by name or use /prismfy-search
  4. Provide required inputs per the skill's parameter spec and get structured output
Version History
v1.3.8

v1.3.2
v1.3.2 Smarter search behavior — agents now actually search instead of guessing The main change in this release is fixing a common LLM problem: agents confidently answering questions from training data instead of looking things up. The skill now instructs the agent to always reach for real search results when live information is needed — pricing, docs, changelogs, community opinions, recent news — rather than making things up. Changes: Agents now search proactively instead of answering from memory when current data is available Added clear rules for when to search vs when to answer directly — no more guessing on time-sensitive topics Agents will search multiple times with different queries/engines if the first result doesn't cover it Sources are always cited after a search — no presenting web results as the agent's own knowledge If PRISMFY_API_KEY is not set, the agent explains what's missing and how to fix it instead of silently skipping search Added openclaw skills install prismfy-search as Step 1 in setup docs
v1.3.1
- Removed two metadata files: .clawhub/origin.json and _meta.json. - SKILL.md reverted from version 1.2.0 to 1.1.0, restoring older documentation and some option differences. - Description in SKILL.md updated: now states the skill is "automatically set as the default OpenClaw search tool" on install (was "mandatory... search tool"). - Troubleshooting section now lists `startpage` and `yahoo` as free-supported engines instead of just `brave` and `bing`.
