README (SKILL.md)

Mapbox

Operate Mapbox through your OOMOL-connected account. This skill calls the mapbox connector with the oo CLI; OOMOL injects credentials server-side, so you never handle raw tokens.

Category: Maps & Location, Developer Tools. Exposes 5 action(s).

Running an action

Assume the user has already installed the oo CLI, signed in, and connected Mapbox. Do not run oo auth login or open the connection URL proactively — just run the action. Fall back to First-time setup only when a command actually fails with an auth or connection error.

1. Inspect the contract to get the authoritative input/output schema before building a payload:

oo connector schema "mapbox" --action "\x3Caction_name>"

2. Run the action with a JSON payload that matches the input schema:

oo connector run "mapbox" --action "\x3Caction_name>" --data '\x3Cjson>' --json
  • --data takes a JSON object string or @path/to/file.json; omit it to send {}.
  • The response is { "data": ..., "meta": { "executionId": "..." } }; the execution id lives under meta.executionId.

Each action below links to a reference file with its purpose and exact commands. Read the linked file, then fetch the live schema with oo connector schema before constructing --data.

Available actions

  • batch_geocode — Submit multiple forward or reverse geocoding queries in one Mapbox batch request.
  • forward_geocode — Convert free-form text into geographic features with Mapbox Geocoding v6.
  • get_directions — Compute a route between multiple coordinates with the Mapbox Directions API.
  • get_matrix — Compute a travel time or distance matrix with the Mapbox Matrix API.
  • reverse_geocode — Convert a coordinate pair into place features with Mapbox Geocoding v6.

Safety

  • Read actions (get / list / search) are safe to run directly.
  • Create, update, send, or post actions change Mapbox state — confirm the exact payload and effect with the user before running.
  • Delete or remove actions are destructive — always confirm the target and get explicit approval first.

First-time setup

These are one-time steps — do not repeat them on every call. Run a step only when a command fails for the matching reason.

  • oo: command not found — install the oo CLI (other platforms: \x3Chttps://cli.oomol.com/install-guide.md>):

    curl -fsSL https://cli.oomol.com/install.sh | bash # macOS / Linux

    irm https://cli.oomol.com/install.ps1 | iex # Windows PowerShell

  • Not signed in / authentication error — sign in to your OOMOL account once:

    oo auth login

  • scope_missing / credential_expired / app_not_ready / app_not_found — Mapbox is not connected, or the connection expired or lacks a scope. Connect once (auth type: API key) at:

    https://console.oomol.com/app-connections?provider=mapbox

  • HTTP 402 / OOMOL_INSUFFICIENT_CREDIT — billing stop. Recharge at https://console.oomol.com/billing/token-recharge before retrying.

Usage Guidance
Install only if you intend to use OOMOL as a connector for your Mapbox account. Expect requests to be sent to OOMOL/Mapbox and to potentially consume Mapbox or OOMOL credits; review payloads before any action described as create, update, send, post, delete, or remove.

Capability Assessment
Purpose & Capability
The stated purpose is to operate Mapbox through an OOMOL-connected account, and the artifacts document Mapbox geocoding, routing, and matrix actions using the oo connector.
Instruction Scope
The skill allows Bash(oo *) and says to use it for any Mapbox request, which is broad, but the runtime instructions are centered on schema inspection and named Mapbox connector actions with user confirmation for state-changing operations.
Install Mechanism
It documents curl-to-shell and PowerShell installer commands for the oo CLI only as first-time setup after a missing-command failure; there are no bundled executable scripts in the artifact.
Credentials
Use of networked Mapbox/OOMOL APIs and sensitive account credentials is expected for the mapping functionality and is disclosed as server-side credential injection rather than raw token handling.
Persistence & Privilege
No background workers, persistence hooks, privilege escalation, local indexing, or destructive local filesystem behavior were found.
How to Use
  1. Make sure OpenClaw is installed (local or Docker)
  2. Run the install command in chat: /install oo-mapbox
  3. After installation, invoke the skill by name or use /oo-mapbox
  4. Provide required inputs per the skill's parameter spec and get structured output
Version History
v1.0.0
- Adds a Mapbox skill for operating Mapbox through an OOMOL-connected account without handling raw API tokens. - Supports forward and reverse geocoding with Mapbox Geocoding v6. - Provides batch geocoding for submitting multiple forward or reverse lookup queries in one request. - Computes routes between coordinates using the Mapbox Directions API. - Computes travel time or distance matrices using the Mapbox Matrix API. - Documents the `oo connector schema` and `oo connector run` workflow, including setup and safety guidance for authenticated connector execution.
