Description
Excel (microsoft.com). Use this skill for ANY Excel request — reading, creating, updating, and deleting data. Whenever a task involves Excel, use this skill...
README (SKILL.md)

Excel

Operate Excel through your OOMOL-connected account. This skill calls the excel connector with the oo CLI; OOMOL injects credentials server-side, so you never handle raw tokens.

Category: Productivity, Data & Analytics. Exposes 31 action(s).

Running an action

Assume the user has already installed the oo CLI, signed in, and connected Excel. Do not run oo auth login or open the connection URL proactively — just run the action. Fall back to First-time setup only when a command actually fails with an auth or connection error.

1. Inspect the contract to get the authoritative input/output schema before building a payload:

oo connector schema "excel" --action "\x3Caction_name>"

2. Run the action with a JSON payload that matches the input schema:

oo connector run "excel" --action "\x3Caction_name>" --data '\x3Cjson>' --json
  • --data takes a JSON object string or @path/to/file.json; omit it to send {}.
  • The response is { "data": ..., "meta": { "executionId": "..." } }; the execution id lives under meta.executionId.

Each action below links to a reference file with its purpose and exact commands. Read the linked file, then fetch the live schema with oo connector schema before constructing --data.

Available actions

  • add_table — Create a new workbook table from an address range.
  • add_table_column — Add one column to a workbook table.
  • add_table_row — Add one or more rows to a workbook table.
  • add_worksheet — Add a new worksheet to a workbook.
  • apply_table_filter — Apply a Microsoft Graph filter criteria object to one table column.
  • apply_table_sort — Apply a Microsoft Graph sort definition to one workbook table.
  • clear_range — Clear one worksheet range.
  • clear_table_filter — Clear the current Microsoft Graph filter on one table column.
  • convert_table_to_range — Convert a workbook table back into a plain worksheet range.
  • create_session — Create an Excel workbook session for subsequent workbook operations.
  • create_workbook — Create a new .xlsx workbook file and optionally populate worksheets and data.
  • delete_table_column — Delete one column from a workbook table.
  • delete_table_row — Delete one row from a workbook table by row index.
  • delete_worksheet — Delete one worksheet from a workbook.
  • get_range — Read one worksheet range by A1-style address.
  • get_table_column — Read one workbook table column by column name or column ID.
  • get_workbook — Read workbook metadata and optionally expand related workbook resources.
  • get_worksheet — Read a single worksheet by worksheet name or worksheet ID.
  • get_worksheet_used_range — Read the used range for one worksheet.
  • insert_range — Insert one worksheet range and shift existing cells to make space.
  • list_drive_item_children — List direct child drive items for a folder or the drive root.
  • list_table_columns — List columns for one workbook table.
  • list_table_rows — List rows for one workbook table.
  • list_tables — List workbook tables, optionally restricted to one worksheet.
  • list_worksheets — List worksheets in a workbook.
  • merge_cells — Merge cells inside one worksheet range.
  • search_files — Search workbook files in the current OneDrive drive and return matching drive items.
  • sort_range — Apply a Microsoft Graph sort definition to one worksheet range.
  • update_range — Update one worksheet range with values, formulas, formats, or visibility flags.
  • update_table — Update table metadata such as the name, style, or header flags.
  • update_worksheet — Update worksheet metadata such as the name, position, or visibility.

Safety

  • Read actions (get / list / search) are safe to run directly.
  • Create, update, send, or post actions change Excel state — confirm the exact payload and effect with the user before running.
  • Delete or remove actions are destructive — always confirm the target and get explicit approval first.

First-time setup

These are one-time steps — do not repeat them on every call. Run a step only when a command fails for the matching reason.

  • oo: command not found — install the oo CLI (other platforms: \x3Chttps://cli.oomol.com/install-guide.md>):

    curl -fsSL https://cli.oomol.com/install.sh | bash # macOS / Linux

    irm https://cli.oomol.com/install.ps1 | iex # Windows PowerShell

  • Not signed in / authentication error — sign in to your OOMOL account once:

    oo auth login

  • scope_missing / credential_expired / app_not_ready / app_not_found — Excel is not connected, or the connection expired or lacks a scope. Connect once (auth type: OAuth2) at:

    https://console.oomol.com/app-connections?provider=excel

  • HTTP 402 / OOMOL_INSUFFICIENT_CREDIT — billing stop. Recharge at https://console.oomol.com/billing/token-recharge before retrying.

Usage Guidance
Install only if you are comfortable letting OOMOL-connected Excel actions read and modify workbook data in your account. Confirm exact targets and payloads before writes or deletes, and treat the create_session permission note as documentation that needs clarification rather than a blocker.
Capability Assessment
Purpose & Capability
The skill's stated purpose is to operate Microsoft Excel through OOMOL, and its read, create, update, sort, filter, and delete actions are aligned with that purpose.
Instruction Scope
Instructions are broad for Excel requests but remain scoped to the Excel connector; write and destructive actions are explicitly marked for user confirmation, with one documented create_session scope/classification inconsistency.
Install Mechanism
The skill mainly invokes the oo CLI and only presents remote installer commands as first-time setup fallback when the CLI is missing; this is disclosed rather than automatic.
Credentials
The allowed tool surface is limited to oo CLI commands for the Excel connector, which is proportionate to the integration.
Persistence & Privilege
The skill relies on an existing OOMOL OAuth connection and server-side credential handling; it does not request raw tokens, create hidden background workers, or add unrelated persistence.
How to Use
  1. Make sure OpenClaw is installed (local or Docker)
  2. Run the install command in chat: /install oo-excel
  3. After installation, invoke the skill by name or use /oo-excel
  4. Provide required inputs per the skill's parameter spec and get structured output
Version History
v1.0.0
- Initial release of `oo-excel`, an OOMOL skill for operating Microsoft Excel through the `excel` connector and `oo` CLI. - Supports workbook discovery and inspection, including searching OneDrive Excel files, listing folder children, reading workbook metadata, worksheets, tables, columns, rows, ranges, and used ranges. - Adds workbook and worksheet creation workflows, including creating `.xlsx` files, adding worksheets, creating tables, and inserting table rows or columns. - Provides range and table editing actions for updating cell values, formulas, formats, visibility flags, table metadata, sorting, filtering, clearing ranges, merging cells, and converting tables back to ranges. - Includes destructive and state-changing operations such as deleting worksheets, table rows, and table columns, with explicit safety guidance to confirm targets and payloads before execution. - Documents a consistent action workflow: inspect the live connector schema first, run actions with JSON payloads, and rely on OOMOL-managed credentials instead of handling raw tokens.
