README (SKILL.md)

Apify

Operate Apify through your OOMOL-connected account. This skill calls the apify connector with the oo CLI; OOMOL injects credentials server-side, so you never handle raw tokens.

Category: Developer Tools, Data & Analytics. Exposes 5 action(s).

Running an action

Assume the user has already installed the oo CLI, signed in, and connected Apify. Do not run oo auth login or open the connection URL proactively — just run the action. Fall back to First-time setup only when a command actually fails with an auth or connection error.

1. Inspect the contract to get the authoritative input/output schema before building a payload:

oo connector schema "apify" --action "\x3Caction_name>"

2. Run the action with a JSON payload that matches the input schema:

oo connector run "apify" --action "\x3Caction_name>" --data '\x3Cjson>' --json
  • --data takes a JSON object string or @path/to/file.json; omit it to send {}.
  • The response is { "data": ..., "meta": { "executionId": "..." } }; the execution id lives under meta.executionId.

Each action below links to a reference file with its purpose and exact commands. Read the linked file, then fetch the live schema with oo connector schema before constructing --data.

Available actions

  • get_actor — Retrieve metadata for one Apify actor by identifier.
  • get_current_user — Retrieve the currently authenticated Apify user account.
  • get_dataset_items — Retrieve JSON items from one Apify dataset.
  • get_run — Retrieve the current status and storage identifiers for one Apify actor run.
  • run_actor — Start one Apify actor run with an optional JSON input payload.

Safety

  • Read actions (get / list / search) are safe to run directly.
  • Create, update, send, or post actions change Apify state — confirm the exact payload and effect with the user before running.
  • Delete or remove actions are destructive — always confirm the target and get explicit approval first.

First-time setup

These are one-time steps — do not repeat them on every call. Run a step only when a command fails for the matching reason.

  • oo: command not found — install the oo CLI (other platforms: \x3Chttps://cli.oomol.com/install-guide.md>):

    curl -fsSL https://cli.oomol.com/install.sh | bash # macOS / Linux

    irm https://cli.oomol.com/install.ps1 | iex # Windows PowerShell

  • Not signed in / authentication error — sign in to your OOMOL account once:

    oo auth login

  • scope_missing / credential_expired / app_not_ready / app_not_found — Apify is not connected, or the connection expired or lacks a scope. Connect once (auth type: API key) at:

    https://console.oomol.com/app-connections?provider=apify

  • HTTP 402 / OOMOL_INSUFFICIENT_CREDIT — billing stop. Recharge at https://console.oomol.com/billing/token-recharge before retrying.

Usage Guidance
Install only if you are comfortable letting the agent use your connected Apify account through OOMOL, including starting actor runs. Before any run_actor use, require the agent to show the actor ID, input payload, expected effect, and possible cost or external network behavior, and approve it explicitly.

Capability Assessment
Purpose & Capability
The stated purpose says Apify requests for searching and reading data, but the documented action surface includes run_actor, which starts an Apify actor run with optional JSON input. Running actors is related to Apify, but it is higher-impact than read-only data retrieval.
Instruction Scope
The trigger language says to use the skill for any Apify request, while the safety section only generally requires confirmation for create/update/send/post and delete/remove actions. It does not clearly call out run_actor as a state-changing or billable execution action requiring explicit user confirmation.
Install Mechanism
The skill is markdown-only and allows Bash commands matching oo *. It includes one-time oo CLI install commands using curl-to-bash or PowerShell irm-to-iex only if oo is missing, which is common but should be user-visible before running.
Credentials
Using the OOMOL oo CLI and server-side Apify credentials is proportionate for an Apify integration, and metadata discloses that an API key is required. The broad oo command allowance gives more local command surface than the listed Apify actions alone.
Persistence & Privilege
No background worker, persistence mechanism, local indexing, destructive local filesystem behavior, or credential exfiltration is present in the artifacts. Credentials are described as injected server-side rather than handled directly by the agent.
How to Use
  1. Make sure OpenClaw is installed (local or Docker)
  2. Run the install command in chat: /install oo-apify
  3. After installation, invoke the skill by name or use /oo-apify
  4. Provide required inputs per the skill's parameter spec and get structured output
Version History
v1.0.0
- Initial release of `oo-apify`, enabling Apify workflows through an OOMOL-connected account without handling raw Apify tokens directly. - Added support for inspecting live connector schemas before each action, helping payloads stay aligned with upstream Apify changes. - Added actor metadata lookup via `get_actor`. - Added actor execution support via `run_actor`, including optional JSON input payloads. - Added run and data retrieval actions with `get_run` for actor run status/storage identifiers and `get_dataset_items` for dataset JSON items. - Added account introspection via `get_current_user` for the authenticated Apify connection.
