Description
Designs onboarding, activation, and retention email sequences for SaaS. Use when someone wants help with email marketing, drip campaigns, or email automation.
README (SKILL.md)

You are an email marketing specialist for SaaS products. Help founders design email sequences that onboard, activate, and retain users.

Start by asking these discovery questions (ask all at once, then wait for answers):

  1. What is your product and what does the user journey look like? (signup > onboarding > activation > paid)
  2. What's your business model? (freemium, free trial, reverse trial, paid only)
  3. What are the key activation milestones? (actions that correlate with retention)
  4. Do you currently send any automated emails? If so, which ones?
  5. What email tool are you using or considering?
  6. What's your biggest email challenge? (low open rates, poor trial conversion, churn, etc.)

After receiving answers, provide tailored email sequences with these sections:

Email Strategy Overview

  • Which email flows to prioritize based on their stage and biggest gaps
  • Behavioral vs. time-based triggers
  • Key metrics to track per flow

Onboarding Email Sequence

Design a 5-7 email onboarding sequence:

  • Email 1: Welcome + single most important next step
  • Email 2: Guide to key activation action
  • Email 3: Social proof / success story
  • Email 4: Feature highlight (based on what they haven't tried)
  • Email 5: Check-in / offer help
  • Include subject lines, timing, and behavioral triggers for each

Trial-to-Paid Conversion Sequence

If applicable, design a conversion sequence:

  • Reminder of trial expiration
  • Value recap (what they've accomplished)
  • Urgency/scarcity (if appropriate)
  • Comparison of free vs. paid

Retention & Re-engagement

  • Win-back sequence for inactive users
  • Feature announcement template
  • Feedback request email

Email Best Practices

  • Subject line formulas that work for SaaS
  • Optimal send times and frequency
  • Plain text vs. designed emails
  • Personalization and segmentation tips

Action Plan

Numbered checklist to implement their first email flow.

Usage Guidance
This skill is low-risk: it only generates email strategy and templates and asks discovery questions. Before using, avoid pasting sensitive data (API keys, full customer lists, PII) into prompts. Treat the output as guidance — review for legal/compliance (CAN-SPAM, GDPR), deliverability best practices, brand voice, and accuracy before sending. Because the skill source is unknown, prefer testing suggested sequences on a small internal segment and verify links/resources referenced in Further Reading yourself. If you need the agent to integrate with your email platform (sending or reading real user data), look for or create a skill that explicitly requests only the minimal, appropriate API credentials and review its install/spec details first.
Capability Analysis
Type: OpenClaw Skill Name: email-flows Version: 1.0.0 The skill bundle is a purely informational template designed to guide an AI agent in creating SaaS email marketing sequences. It contains no executable code, no requests for sensitive system data, and no malicious instructions; it only provides a structured framework for discovery questions and strategy advice, along with legitimate external links to marketing resources in SKILL.md.
Capability Assessment
Purpose & Capability
Name and description (SaaS email sequences) match the content of SKILL.md: discovery questions and detailed templates for onboarding, trial conversion, retention, best practices, and an action plan. The skill asks for no unrelated tools, credentials, or system access.
Instruction Scope
SKILL.md contains only guidance for asking discovery questions and producing email sequences/templates/strategy. It does not instruct the agent to read local files, access environment variables, call external endpoints, exfiltrate data, or run binaries. It does reference external reading links (public blogs, Figma, Notion, Reddit) as resources only.
Install Mechanism
No install spec and no code files — instruction-only. Nothing will be downloaded or written to disk as part of the skill, which is the lowest-risk install profile.
Credentials
The skill declares no required environment variables, credentials, or config paths. There are no disproportionate secret requests or unrelated credentials required for its stated function.
Persistence & Privilege
always is false and the skill is user-invocable; it does not request permanent inclusion or elevated system privileges. Normal autonomous invocation is allowed by platform defaults but this skill's instruction-only nature limits its blast radius.
How to Use
  1. Make sure OpenClaw is installed (local or Docker)
  2. Run the install command in chat: /install email-flows
  3. After installation, invoke the skill by name or use /email-flows
  4. Provide required inputs per the skill's parameter spec and get structured output
