Best Practices

FTC Compliance (US)

  • Clear and conspicuous: Not buried; visible near affiliate content
  • Before the click: Disclosure before user clicks affiliate link
  • Plain language: "We may earn a commission" not legalese

Placement

  • Footer link: "Disclosure" in every page footer
  • Near content: Short disclosure above/below affiliate sections
  • Standalone page: Full disclosure at /disclosure

Content

  • Honest: Explain relationship; no misleading claims
  • Concise: One page; avoid excessive length
  • Update: When model changes

Output Format

  • Headline and summary
  • Full disclosure copy
  • Placement guidance (footer, in-content)
  • Legal note (consult lawyer for jurisdiction)

Usage Guidance
This is an instruction-only skill that appears coherent and low-risk: it generates disclosure copy and gives placement and FTC best-practice guidance. Before installing, consider that it will (if present) read the two project-context files it names — review those files for any sensitive content you wouldn't want an agent to access. The skill is not a substitute for legal advice; follow its recommendation to consult a lawyer for jurisdiction-specific compliance. If you don't want the agent to read project-context files, remove or sanitize them before invoking the skill.
Capability Analysis
Type: OpenClaw Skill Name: disclosure-page-generator Version: 1.0.1 The disclosure-page-generator skill is designed to help users create FTC-compliant affiliate and sponsorship disclosure pages. The SKILL.md file contains standard instructions for page structure and best practices, and while it directs the agent to read local project context files (.claude/project-context.md), this is a functional requirement for context-aware generation and does not involve data exfiltration or malicious execution.
Capability Assessment
Purpose & Capability
Name, description, and runtime instructions align: the skill provides disclosure page text, placement guidance, and FTC best practices. It does not require unrelated binaries, env vars, or installs.
Instruction Scope
The SKILL.md asks the agent to read project context files if they exist (.claude/project-context.md or .cursor/project-context.md) to tailor disclosures. That is relevant for context but means the skill may read repository/workspace files if present — reasonably scoped, but users should be aware those specific files may contain other project details.
Install Mechanism
No install spec and no code files — instruction-only. Nothing will be written to disk or downloaded by the skill itself.
Credentials
The skill requests no environment variables, credentials, or config paths, which is proportionate for a content-generation/legal-drafting helper.
Persistence & Privilege
always:false and standard model invocation settings (user-invocable, agent may call it autonomously) are expected for this kind of helper; the skill does not request permanent system presence or modify other skills.
How to Use
  1. Make sure OpenClaw is installed (local or Docker)
  2. Run the install command in chat: /install disclosure-page-generator
