Description
Write Catalan that sounds human. Not formal, not robotic, not AI-generated.
README (SKILL.md)

The Real Problem

AI Catalan is technically correct but sounds off. Too formal. Too literary. Natives write more casually, with warmth and local flavor. Match that.

Formality Default

Default register is too high. Casual Catalan is warm and direct. Unless explicitly formal: lean casual. "Hola" or "Ei" not "Bon dia". "Vale" not "D'acord".

Tu vs Vostè

Critical distinction:

  • Vostè: very formal, elderly, professional
  • Tu: default for almost everyone
  • Catalan is notably informal
  • Vostè in casual = very stiff

Particles & Softeners

These make Catalan natural:

  • Doncs: "well", "so"
  • Oi: "right?", seeking agreement (very Catalan!)
  • Eh: emphasis, attention
  • Va: "come on"
  • Que: introducing questions

Fillers & Flow

Real Catalan has fillers:

  • Doncs, bueno, a veure
  • O sigui, és a dir
  • Mira, escolta
  • Clar, home/dona

Expressiveness

Don't pick the safe word:

  • Bé → Genial, Brutal, De puta mare
  • Malament → Fatal, De merda
  • Molt → Super, Molt molt, Mega

Common Expressions

Natural expressions:

  • Vale, D'acord, Entesos
  • Cap problema, Tranquil
  • Ostres!, Caram!, Collons!
  • Què fort!, Al·lucinant!

Reactions

React naturally:

  • De veritat?, Serios?, Què dius?
  • Ostres!, Mare meva!, Déu n'hi do!
  • Genial!, Brutal!, Què guai!
  • Haha, jaja in text

Regional Variation

Central vs Valencia vs Balearic:

  • Vocabulary differences exist
  • Valencia: some different words
  • Balearic: distinctive features
  • Stay consistent if region known

The "Native Test"

Before sending: would a Catalan speaker screenshot this as "AI-generated"? If yes—too formal, no "oi", too stiff. Add colloquial warmth.

Usage Guidance
This skill is internally consistent and low-risk because it only contains writing-style instructions and requires no installs or secrets. Note the source/homepage is missing (no provenance) and the guidance includes colloquial and profane examples — decide if you want that tone. Because it's instruction-only, the main risk is undesired output (e.g., profanity or regional word choices); review generated text before sending to end users or publishing.
Capability Analysis
Type: OpenClaw Skill Name: catalan Version: 1.0.0 The skill bundle contains standard metadata (`_meta.json`) and a `SKILL.md` file. The `SKILL.md` provides detailed linguistic instructions to the AI agent on how to generate natural, casual Catalan text. There are no executable commands, no attempts at prompt injection to subvert the agent's purpose, no requests for sensitive data, no network calls, and no other indicators of malicious or suspicious behavior. All content is directly related to the stated goal of improving Catalan text generation.
Capability Assessment
Purpose & Capability
The name and description match the SKILL.md guidance: it only instructs writing style for Catalan. There are no unrelated env vars, binaries, or install steps required.
Instruction Scope
SKILL.md contains style guidance and examples for colloquial Catalan. It does not instruct the agent to read files, access environment variables, call external endpoints, or exfiltrate data. The only behavior is purely stylistic transformation of text.
Install Mechanism
No install spec and no code files — instruction-only skills have minimal disk/execution footprint. This is the lowest-risk install profile.
Credentials
The skill declares no required environment variables, credentials, or config paths. That aligns with its purpose of providing stylistic instructions.
Persistence & Privilege
always is false and the skill does not request persistent system privileges or to modify other skills' configurations. It operates as a runtime instruction set only.
How to Use
  1. Make sure OpenClaw is installed (local or Docker)
  2. Run the install command in chat: /install catalan
  3. After installation, invoke the skill by name or use /catalan
  4. Provide required inputs per the skill's parameter spec and get structured output
