Description
Translates and localizes text, software strings, documents, subtitles, and marketing copy between any language pair. Use when translating anything, when fixing a translation that reads machine-made, or when localizing a product: ICU plurals and gender, placeholders that must survive, string catalogs (JSON, XLIFF, .po, .strings, .xcstrings, ARB, RESX, YAML), locale codes and fallback chains, RTL and bidi breakage, CJK typography, mojibake, text expansion that overflows the UI, subtitle timing and reading speed, hreflang and multilingual SEO, glossaries, translation memory and fuzzy matches, and post-editing machine output. Use when choosing register (tu/vous, tú/usted, du/Sie, keigo), between es-ES and es-419 or zh-Hans and zh-Hant, or when a certified, legal, or medical translation carries liability. Not for writing original copy natively in one language (spanish, french, german, japanese, chinese) or generating captions from audio (video-captions).
Usage Guidance
Install only if you want this skill to maintain a persistent local translation workspace. Before using it on confidential, client, legal, medical, or business material, review the declared paths and require confirmation before it writes, deletes, migrates, or updates shared contacts, project, or finance records. Credential handling is explicitly limited to pointers, but sensitive source text and client details can still be retained through notes if the workflow is not tightly controlled.
Capability Assessment
⚠ Credentials
Access to ~/Clawic/data/translate/ is proportionate for translation memory, but default access to contacts, projects, finances, profile data, and legacy migration paths is high-impact and not scoped to explicit user-directed workflows.
ℹ Install Mechanism
The package is Markdown guidance with no executable code, dependencies, remote payload retrieval, or tool hijacking observed. Its metadata does, however, declare access to multiple persistent local data areas.
⚠ Instruction Scope
The instructions require reading config and memory at the start of every session, following a mutable Boxes index to more files under ~/Clawic/data/, and writing durable observations before the session ends; memory-template.md explicitly says no permission is needed.
⚠ Persistence & Privilege
The skill persists preferences, glossaries, artifacts, delivery records, contacts, projects, and subscription rows; it can split, move, update, and delete records automatically. It includes useful mitigations such as local-only storage, path limits, credential stripping, and avoiding full confidential source documents, but those do not remove the consent and scoping concern.
⚠ Purpose & Capability
The core translation, localization, subtitle, document, quality, and terminology guidance is coherent, but the skill also manages translators, agencies, projects, CAT/MT subscriptions, delivery logs, and recurring tasks in shared business stores, which is broader than a simple translation task.
How to Use
  1. Make sure OpenClaw is installed (local or Docker)
  2. Run the install command in chat: /install translate
  3. After installation, invoke the skill by name or use /translate
  4. Provide required inputs per the skill's parameter spec and get structured output
