The Odds API

Operate The Odds API through your OOMOL-connected account. This skill calls the the_odds_api connector with the oo CLI; OOMOL injects credentials server-side, so you never handle raw tokens.

Category: Data & Analytics. Exposes 7 action(s).

Running an action

Assume the user has already installed the oo CLI, signed in, and connected The Odds API. Do not run oo auth login or open the connection URL proactively — just run the action. Fall back to First-time setup only when a command actually fails with an auth or connection error.

1. Inspect the contract to get the authoritative input/output schema before building a payload:

oo connector schema "the_odds_api" --action "\x3Caction_name>"

2. Run the action with a JSON payload that matches the input schema:

oo connector run "the_odds_api" --action "\x3Caction_name>" --data '\x3Cjson>' --json
  • --data takes a JSON object string or @path/to/file.json; omit it to send {}.
  • The response is { "data": ..., "meta": { "executionId": "..." } }; the execution id lives under meta.executionId.

Each action below links to a reference file with its purpose and exact commands. Read the linked file, then fetch the live schema with oo connector schema before constructing --data.

Available actions

  • get_event_odds — Get odds for one The Odds API event.
  • get_odds — Get live and upcoming odds for a sport from The Odds API.
  • get_scores — Get live and recent completed scores for a sport from The Odds API.
  • list_event_markets — List recently seen market keys for one The Odds API event.
  • list_events — List live and upcoming events for a sport from The Odds API.
  • list_participants — List participants for a sport from The Odds API.
  • list_sports — List sports supported by The Odds API.

Safety

  • Read actions (get / list / search) are safe to run directly.
  • Create, update, send, or post actions change The Odds API state — confirm the exact payload and effect with the user before running.
  • Delete or remove actions are destructive — always confirm the target and get explicit approval first.

First-time setup

These are one-time steps — do not repeat them on every call. Run a step only when a command fails for the matching reason.

  • oo: command not found — install the oo CLI (other platforms: \x3Chttps://cli.oomol.com/install-guide.md>):

    curl -fsSL https://cli.oomol.com/install.sh | bash # macOS / Linux

    irm https://cli.oomol.com/install.ps1 | iex # Windows PowerShell

  • Not signed in / authentication error — sign in to your OOMOL account once:

    oo auth login

  • scope_missing / credential_expired / app_not_ready / app_not_found — The Odds API is not connected, or the connection expired or lacks a scope. Connect once (auth type: API key) at:

    https://console.oomol.com/app-connections?provider=the_odds_api

  • HTTP 402 / OOMOL_INSUFFICIENT_CREDIT — billing stop. Recharge at https://console.oomol.com/billing/token-recharge before retrying.

Usage Guidance
Before installing, confirm you trust OOMOL and The Odds API connection flow, because the skill relies on your connected account and may consume API quota or OOMOL credits. Avoid running the remote CLI installer unless you intentionally need to install the `oo` CLI.

Capability Assessment
Purpose & Capability
The stated purpose is to list sports, events, participants, markets, odds, and scores, and the artifact only documents those read-oriented connector actions.
Instruction Scope
Runtime instructions are scoped to `oo connector schema` and `oo connector run` for the `the_odds_api` service, with guidance to confirm any state-changing actions even though none are included.
Install Mechanism
The skill contains only markdown files and no executable package code; first-time setup includes remote CLI installer snippets, but they are disclosed and only suggested after `oo` is missing.
Credentials
Use of network access and an OOMOL-connected account is proportionate to fetching live odds and scores from an external API.
Persistence & Privilege
The metadata flags sensitive credentials, but the artifact says OOMOL injects credentials server-side and does not instruct the agent to read, store, or expose raw tokens.
How to Use
  1. Make sure OpenClaw is installed (local or Docker)
  2. Run the install command in chat: /install oo-the-odds-api
  3. After installation, invoke the skill by name or use /oo-the-odds-api
  4. Provide required inputs per the skill's parameter spec and get structured output
Version History
v1.0.0
- Adds an OOMOL skill for operating The Odds API through the `the_odds_api` connector without handling raw API tokens locally. - Provides seven read-focused actions for discovering supported sports, events, participants, event markets, odds, event-specific odds, and scores. - Supports live and upcoming sports data workflows, including odds lookup by sport and odds lookup for a single event. - Includes score retrieval for live and recently completed events. - Documents a schema-first execution flow using `oo connector schema` and `oo connector run` so payloads stay aligned with the live connector contract.
