README (SKILL.md)

OpenRouter

Operate OpenRouter through your OOMOL-connected account. This skill calls the openrouter connector with the oo CLI; OOMOL injects credentials server-side, so you never handle raw tokens.

Category: AI, Developer Tools. Exposes 13 action(s).

Running an action

Assume the user has already installed the oo CLI, signed in, and connected OpenRouter. Do not run oo auth login or open the connection URL proactively — just run the action. Fall back to First-time setup only when a command actually fails with an auth or connection error.

1. Inspect the contract to get the authoritative input/output schema before building a payload:

oo connector schema "openrouter" --action "\x3Caction_name>"

2. Run the action with a JSON payload that matches the input schema:

oo connector run "openrouter" --action "\x3Caction_name>" --data '\x3Cjson>' --json
  • --data takes a JSON object string or @path/to/file.json; omit it to send {}.
  • The response is { "data": ..., "meta": { "executionId": "..." } }; the execution id lives under meta.executionId.

Each action below links to a reference file with its purpose and exact commands. Read the linked file, then fetch the live schema with oo connector schema before constructing --data.

Available actions

  • create_chat_completion — Create an OpenRouter chat completion through the OpenAI-compatible /chat/completions endpoint.
  • create_coinbase_charge — Call OpenRouter's deprecated Coinbase charge endpoint for credits purchases. The upstream endpoint is currently deprecated and may return 410 Gone.
  • create_message — Create an OpenRouter Anthropic-format message through the /messages endpoint.
  • get_credits — Get the authenticated OpenRouter credit balance summary.
  • get_current_key — Get metadata for the currently authenticated OpenRouter API key.
  • get_generation — Get request and usage metadata for a specific OpenRouter generation.
  • get_models_count — Get the total number of OpenRouter models, optionally filtered by output modalities.
  • list_available_models — List the available OpenRouter models, or return the RSS feed when requested.
  • list_embedding_models — List the embedding models available through OpenRouter.
  • list_model_endpoints — List the currently available endpoints for a specific OpenRouter model.
  • list_providers — List the model providers currently available through OpenRouter.
  • list_user_models — List models filtered by the current user's OpenRouter routing preferences, privacy settings, and guardrails.
  • list_zdr_endpoints — Preview the OpenRouter endpoints that remain available under Zero Data Retention.

Safety

  • Read actions (get / list / search) are safe to run directly.
  • Create, update, send, or post actions change OpenRouter state — confirm the exact payload and effect with the user before running.
  • Delete or remove actions are destructive — always confirm the target and get explicit approval first.

First-time setup

These are one-time steps — do not repeat them on every call. Run a step only when a command fails for the matching reason.

  • oo: command not found — install the oo CLI (other platforms: \x3Chttps://cli.oomol.com/install-guide.md>):

    curl -fsSL https://cli.oomol.com/install.sh | bash # macOS / Linux

    irm https://cli.oomol.com/install.ps1 | iex # Windows PowerShell

  • Not signed in / authentication error — sign in to your OOMOL account once:

    oo auth login

  • scope_missing / credential_expired / app_not_ready / app_not_found — OpenRouter is not connected, or the connection expired or lacks a scope. Connect once (auth type: API key) at:

    https://console.oomol.com/app-connections?provider=openrouter

  • HTTP 402 / OOMOL_INSUFFICIENT_CREDIT — billing stop. Recharge at https://console.oomol.com/billing/token-recharge before retrying.

Usage Guidance
Install only if you trust OOMOL and want your agent to use your connected OpenRouter account. Review payloads before chat/message or charge actions because they can send prompt data, use credits, or affect account state.

Capability Assessment
Purpose & Capability
The documented purpose is to operate OpenRouter through OOMOL, and the listed actions match that purpose: model/account reads, chat/message creation, generation metadata, and a disclosed deprecated charge action.
Instruction Scope
The skill grants Bash access to `oo *`, which is broader than individual connector commands, but the instructions consistently direct use of `oo connector schema` and `oo connector run` for the OpenRouter connector and require user confirmation for write actions.
Install Mechanism
The artifact is markdown-only with no executable files; it includes a curl-or-PowerShell install path for the oo CLI only as a first-time fallback when the command is missing.
Credentials
Network access, OpenRouter account access, and possible credit usage are expected for this connector and are disclosed, including billing-stop handling and credential-expired setup paths.
Persistence & Privilege
The skill relies on a persistent OOMOL account connection with server-side credential injection, but it does not instruct background execution, local credential harvesting, or persistence beyond normal account sign-in and service connection.
How to Use
  1. Make sure OpenClaw is installed (local or Docker)
  2. Run the install command in chat: /install oo-openrouter
  3. After installation, invoke the skill by name or use /oo-openrouter
  4. Provide required inputs per the skill's parameter spec and get structured output
Version History
v1.0.0
- Adds the initial `oo-openrouter` skill for operating OpenRouter through an OOMOL-connected account without handling raw API tokens. - Provides 13 connector actions covering chat completions, Anthropic-format messages, model discovery, provider listings, endpoint lookup, and Zero Data Retention endpoint previews. - Includes account and usage helpers for credit balance, current API key metadata, generation metadata, and user-filtered model availability. - Documents a schema-first workflow using `oo connector schema` before running actions with `oo connector run`. - Defines safety guidance for read actions, state-changing create actions, deprecated Coinbase charge behavior, and first-time setup failure paths.
