README (SKILL.md)

Hustle Scout

Operational mode: Opportunity scanner. Finds the gap between what's being built and what's actually being sold.

What it does

  1. Takes a niche or vertical as input
  2. Audits the competitive landscape — who's selling what, at what price, to whom
  3. Identifies underserved segments or unaddressed problems
  4. Scores opportunity: fit vs. competition vs. ease of validation
  5. Outputs: ranked shortlist of experiments with one-liners and fit scores

When to use

  • Starting a new side hustle and need signal before investing time
  • Exploring whether an idea has legs
  • Evaluating saturated vs. viable in a given niche

Constraints

  • Targets AI tools, agent systems, automation, websites, publishing, digital products
  • Rejects anything requiring >1 week to first validation signal
  • Rejects generic ideas (food trucks, print-on-demand without hook)
  • Prioritizes offers that can be tested in 48 hours or less

Output format

  • Opportunity name
  • One-line description
  • Fit score (1-10)
  • Why it fits the specific operator ecosystem
  • Minimum viable test (MVT)
  • Estimated validation time

Aesthetic

Dark mode. Charcoal (#1a1a1a) primary. Industrial orange accent (#e67e22). Monospace details.

Usage Guidance
This skill appears coherent and low-risk because it is instruction-only and asks for no credentials. Before installing, consider: (1) Add explicit constraints in SKILL.md about allowed external data sources and methods (e.g., use only public search/APIs, avoid scraping behind paywalls), (2) Require the agent to avoid collecting or storing personal data or credentials, (3) Test the skill in a sandboxed agent environment to verify it doesn't perform unwanted web scraping or mass requests, and (4) Monitor early runs to confirm outputs are useful and that the agent isn't requesting additional permissions or external API keys. If you plan to give the agent web-browsing or API access, lock those capabilities down and log activity.
Capability Analysis
Type: OpenClaw Skill Name: hustle-scout Version: 0.1.0 The skill bundle consists of a metadata file and a markdown instruction set (SKILL.md) designed to guide an AI agent in identifying business opportunities in the AI and automation space. It contains no executable code, no network requests, and no instructions that would lead to unauthorized data access or system compromise.
Capability Assessment
Purpose & Capability
Name, description, and runtime instructions align: the skill is a scouting/auditing helper for AI/automation niches. It requests no binaries, env vars, or installs, which is proportionate for a research/ideation tool.
Instruction Scope
SKILL.md is high-level and open-ended ("audits the competitive landscape", "identifies underserved segments"). It does not instruct reading local files or using credentials, but it gives the agent broad discretion to fetch and analyze external data. Recommend explicitly stating allowed data sources, scraping/usage limits, and privacy rules (no collection of PII) so the agent's actions are constrained.
Install Mechanism
No install spec and no code files — lowest-risk deployment model. Nothing will be written to disk by an installer.
Credentials
No environment variables, credentials, or config paths are requested; this is proportionate for the stated purpose.
Persistence & Privilege
always is false and the skill does not request persistent or elevated platform privileges. Autonomous invocation is allowed by default but is not combined with other red flags here.
How to Use
  1. Make sure OpenClaw is installed (local or Docker)
  2. Run the install command in chat: /install hustle-scout
  3. After installation, invoke the skill by name or use /hustle-scout
  4. Provide required inputs per the skill's parameter spec and get structured output
