Get polished edited clips ready to post, without touching a single slider. Upload your raw video clips (MP4, MOV, AVI, WebM, up to 500MB), say something like...
README (SKILL.md)

Getting Started

Send me your raw video clips and I'll handle the AI video editing. Or just describe what you're after.

Try saying:

  • "edit a 2-minute unedited screen recording into a 1080p MP4"
  • "trim the pauses, add transitions, and export a clean final cut"
  • "editing raw footage into a finished video without manual effort for content creators and students"

First-Time Connection

When a user first opens this skill, connect to the processing backend automatically. Briefly let them know (e.g. "Setting up...").

Authentication: Check if NEMO_TOKEN is set in the environment. If it is, skip to step 2.

  1. Obtain a free token: Generate a random UUID as client identifier. POST to https://mega-api-prod.nemovideo.ai/api/auth/anonymous-token with header X-Client-Id set to that UUID. The response data.token is your NEMO_TOKEN — 100 free credits, valid 7 days.
  2. Create a session: POST to https://mega-api-prod.nemovideo.ai/api/tasks/me/with-session/nemo_agent with Authorization: Bearer \x3Ctoken>, Content-Type: application/json, and body {"task_name":"project","language":"\x3Cdetected>"}. Store the returned session_id for all subsequent requests.

Keep setup communication brief. Don't display raw API responses or token values to the user.

AI Video Editor Best Free — Edit and Export Finished Videos

Drop your raw video clips in the chat and tell me what you need. I'll handle the AI video editing on cloud GPUs — you don't need anything installed locally.

Here's a typical use: you send a a 2-minute unedited screen recording, ask for trim the pauses, add transitions, and export a clean final cut, and about 1-2 minutes later you've got a MP4 file ready to download. The whole thing runs at 1080p by default.

One thing worth knowing — shorter clips under 3 minutes process significantly faster.

Matching Input to Actions

User prompts referencing ai video editor best free, aspect ratio, text overlays, or audio tracks get routed to the corresponding action via keyword and intent classification.

User says... Action Skip SSE?
"export" / "导出" / "download" / "send me the video" → §3.5 Export
"credits" / "积分" / "balance" / "余额" → §3.3 Credits
"status" / "状态" / "show tracks" → §3.4 State
"upload" / "上传" / user sends file → §3.2 Upload
Everything else (generate, edit, add BGM…) → §3.1 SSE

Cloud Render Pipeline Details

Each export job queues on a cloud GPU node that composites video layers, applies platform-spec compression (H.264, up to 1080x1920), and returns a download URL within 30-90 seconds. The session token carries render job IDs, so closing the tab before completion orphans the job.

Base URL: https://mega-api-prod.nemovideo.ai

Endpoint Method Purpose
/api/tasks/me/with-session/nemo_agent POST Start a new editing session. Body: {"task_name":"project","language":"\x3Clang>"}. Returns session_id.
/run_sse POST Send a user message. Body includes app_name, session_id, new_message. Stream response with Accept: text/event-stream. Timeout: 15 min.
/api/upload-video/nemo_agent/me/\x3Csid> POST Upload a file (multipart) or URL.
/api/credits/balance/simple GET Check remaining credits (available, frozen, total).
/api/state/nemo_agent/me/\x3Csid>/latest GET Fetch current timeline state (draft, video_infos, generated_media).
/api/render/proxy/lambda POST Start export. Body: {"id":"render_\x3Cts>","sessionId":"\x3Csid>","draft":\x3Cjson>,"output":{"format":"mp4","quality":"high"}}. Poll status every 30s.

Accepted file types: mp4, mov, avi, webm, mkv, jpg, png, gif, webp, mp3, wav, m4a, aac.

Three attribution headers are required on every request and must match this file's frontmatter:

Header Value
X-Skill-Source ai-video-editor-best-free
X-Skill-Version frontmatter version
X-Skill-Platform auto-detect: clawhub / cursor / unknown from install path

Include Authorization: Bearer \x3CNEMO_TOKEN> and all attribution headers on every request — omitting them triggers a 402 on export.

Error Handling

Code Meaning Action
0 Success Continue
1001 Bad/expired token Re-auth via anonymous-token (tokens expire after 7 days)
1002 Session not found New session §3.0
2001 No credits Anonymous: show registration URL with ?bind=\x3Cid> (get \x3Cid> from create-session or state response when needed). Registered: "Top up credits in your account"
4001 Unsupported file Show supported formats
4002 File too large Suggest compress/trim
400 Missing X-Client-Id Generate Client-Id and retry (see §1)
402 Free plan export blocked Subscription tier issue, NOT credits. "Register or upgrade your plan to unlock export."
429 Rate limit (1 token/client/7 days) Retry in 30s once

SSE Event Handling

Event Action
Text response Apply GUI translation (§4), present to user
Tool call/result Process internally, don't forward
heartbeat / empty data: Keep waiting. Every 2 min: "⏳ Still working..."
Stream closes Process final response

~30% of editing operations return no text in the SSE stream. When this happens: poll session state to verify the edit was applied, then summarize changes to the user.

Backend Response Translation

The backend assumes a GUI exists. Translate these into API actions:

Backend says You do
"click [button]" / "点击" Execute via API
"open [panel]" / "打开" Query session state
"drag/drop" / "拖拽" Send edit via SSE
"preview in timeline" Show track summary
"Export button" / "导出" Execute export workflow

Draft JSON uses short keys: t for tracks, tt for track type (0=video, 1=audio, 7=text), sg for segments, d for duration in ms, m for metadata.

Example timeline summary:

Timeline (3 tracks): 1. Video: city timelapse (0-10s) 2. BGM: Lo-fi (0-10s, 35%) 3. Title: "Urban Dreams" (0-3s)

Common Workflows

Quick edit: Upload → "trim the pauses, add transitions, and export a clean final cut" → Download MP4. Takes 1-2 minutes for a 30-second clip.

Batch style: Upload multiple files in one session. Process them one by one with different instructions. Each gets its own render.

Iterative: Start with a rough cut, preview the result, then refine. The session keeps your timeline state so you can keep tweaking.

Tips and Tricks

The backend processes faster when you're specific. Instead of "make it look better", try "trim the pauses, add transitions, and export a clean final cut" — concrete instructions get better results.

Max file size is 500MB. Stick to MP4, MOV, AVI, WebM for the smoothest experience.

Export as MP4 for widest compatibility across platforms.

Usage Guidance
This skill behaves like a cloud video editor: it will upload any videos you provide to mega-api-prod.nemovideo.ai and use a service token (NEMO_TOKEN) to perform edits. Before installing: 1) Confirm you are comfortable having your videos processed on that third-party service and check its privacy/retention policy; 2) Decide whether to supply your own NEMO_TOKEN (so the skill won't auto-generate/store one) or allow it to obtain an anonymous token — generated tokens are short-lived but may be persisted; 3) Ask where the agent will store session_id/token (memory vs ~/.config/nemovideo/) and clear them if you want no persistence; 4) Because the skill has no official homepage/source listed, prefer caution — verify the nemovideo.ai domain and consider testing with non-sensitive videos first.
Capability Analysis
Type: OpenClaw Skill Name: ai-video-editor-best-free Version: 1.0.0 The skill is a legitimate integration for an AI video editing service (nemovideo.ai). It contains standard API interaction logic for authentication, session management, file uploads, and video rendering, with instructions for the agent to handle Server-Sent Events (SSE) and translate GUI-centric backend responses into API actions. No evidence of data exfiltration, malicious execution, or harmful prompt injection was found; the instructions to hide tokens from the user are consistent with security best practices.
Capability Assessment
Purpose & Capability
Name/description match the behaviour: the skill uploads user video files to a nemovideo.ai backend for editing and export. Requested credential (NEMO_TOKEN) is directly related to the service. Minor inconsistency: the SKILL.md frontmatter lists a config path (~/.config/nemovideo/) while the registry metadata lists no required config paths — unclear whether the skill expects to persist tokens/session state to disk.
Instruction Scope
SKILL.md stays within the stated purpose: it details authentication, session creation, upload, SSE editing, and export flows. It requires uploading user media to the external API (expected for a cloud editor). It does not instruct reading unrelated system files or unrelated environment variables. It does instruct the agent to hide raw API responses and token values from the user and to store session_id/token for subsequent requests (storage location unspecified), which affects persistence and privacy.
Install Mechanism
Instruction-only skill with no install spec and no code files — lowest install risk. All runtime behavior is via documented HTTPS endpoints; there is no third-party binary or archive download.
Credentials
Only one credential is required (NEMO_TOKEN) which is appropriate for a service-backed editor. The SKILL.md also describes an anonymous-token flow that generates and uses a token if none is present; that is consistent, but you should confirm where generated tokens/session IDs are stored (in-memory vs on-disk). The frontmatter's config path (~/ .config/nemovideo/) suggests possible on-disk persistence not declared in registry metadata.
Persistence & Privilege
The skill is not always-enabled and uses normal autonomous invocation. However, instructions say to store session_id and token for reuse and frontmatter references a config directory — this implies potential on-disk persistence of credentials/session state. The skill does not request elevated system privileges, but you should confirm persistence behavior if you care about long-lived tokens or leftover files.
