README (SKILL.md)

Perplexity

Operate Perplexity through your OOMOL-connected account. This skill calls the perplexity connector with the oo CLI; OOMOL injects credentials server-side, so you never handle raw tokens.

Category: AI. Exposes 4 action(s).

Running an action

Assume the user has already installed the oo CLI, signed in, and connected Perplexity. Do not run oo auth login or open the connection URL proactively — just run the action. Fall back to First-time setup only when a command actually fails with an auth or connection error.

1. Inspect the contract to get the authoritative input/output schema before building a payload:

oo connector schema "perplexity" --action "\x3Caction_name>"

2. Run the action with a JSON payload that matches the input schema:

oo connector run "perplexity" --action "\x3Caction_name>" --data '\x3Cjson>' --json
  • --data takes a JSON object string or @path/to/file.json; omit it to send {}.
  • The response is { "data": ..., "meta": { "executionId": "..." } }; the execution id lives under meta.executionId.

Each action below links to a reference file with its purpose and exact commands. Read the linked file, then fetch the live schema with oo connector schema before constructing --data.

Available actions

  • create_chat_completion — Create a Perplexity Sonar chat completion grounded by web search when enabled.
  • create_embeddings — Generate vector embeddings for one or more input strings with Perplexity.
  • list_models — List the models currently available from Perplexity.
  • search — Search the web and return ranked raw results from Perplexity without LLM synthesis.

Safety

  • Read actions (get / list / search) are safe to run directly.
  • Create, update, send, or post actions change Perplexity state — confirm the exact payload and effect with the user before running.
  • Delete or remove actions are destructive — always confirm the target and get explicit approval first.

First-time setup

These are one-time steps — do not repeat them on every call. Run a step only when a command fails for the matching reason.

  • oo: command not found — install the oo CLI (other platforms: \x3Chttps://cli.oomol.com/install-guide.md>):

    curl -fsSL https://cli.oomol.com/install.sh | bash # macOS / Linux

    irm https://cli.oomol.com/install.ps1 | iex # Windows PowerShell

  • Not signed in / authentication error — sign in to your OOMOL account once:

    oo auth login

  • scope_missing / credential_expired / app_not_ready / app_not_found — Perplexity is not connected, or the connection expired or lacks a scope. Connect once (auth type: API key) at:

    https://console.oomol.com/app-connections?provider=perplexity

  • HTTP 402 / OOMOL_INSUFFICIENT_CREDIT — billing stop. Recharge at https://console.oomol.com/billing/token-recharge before retrying.

Usage Guidance
Before installing, confirm you are comfortable sending chat prompts and embedding inputs to Perplexity under your API key. The publisher should fix the action documents so they accurately describe whether these calls persist or mutate remote state, but the provided evidence does not justify treating the skill as harmful.

Capability Assessment
Purpose & Capability
The described capabilities, chat completion and embedding generation, fit a Perplexity integration skill and do not indicate unrelated local access, destructive behavior, or exfiltration beyond expected API requests.
Instruction Scope
The supplied scanner evidence indicates two action documents label API calls as state-changing even though their described purpose is response or embedding generation; this is confusing but conservative rather than covertly permissive.
Install Mechanism
No artifact-backed evidence of unusual install hooks, package execution, persistence setup, or installer-side privilege escalation was provided or found in the available workspace context.
Credentials
Use of a Perplexity API credential and sending prompts or embedding input to Perplexity would be expected for this purpose, assuming the skill discloses the required API key at install or use time.
Persistence & Privilege
The supplied evidence does not show background workers, long-running persistence, local indexing, credential-store scraping, privilege escalation, or mutation of user data.
How to Use
  1. Make sure OpenClaw is installed (local or Docker)
  2. Run the install command in chat: /install oo-perplexity
  3. After installation, invoke the skill by name or use /oo-perplexity
  4. Provide required inputs per the skill's parameter spec and get structured output
Version History
v1.0.0
- Initial release of the `oo-perplexity` skill for operating Perplexity through an OOMOL-connected account via the `oo` CLI. - Adds Perplexity Sonar chat completions, with support for web-grounded responses when enabled by the connector schema. - Adds raw Perplexity web search for ranked results without LLM synthesis. - Adds embedding generation for one or more input strings. - Adds model discovery through `list_models` so agents can inspect currently available Perplexity models. - Includes action-level guidance for schema inspection, JSON execution, auth fallback, and safe handling of write actions.
