README (SKILL.md)

Novel Continuation

Create coherent and deep continuations from existing novel content.

Use Cases

Use when users need to "continue a novel", "keep writing", or "write the next part".

Continuation Principles

1. Stay True to Original Settings

  • Strictly follow existing character relationships, background development, personality traits, and main plot direction
  • Do not deviate from the original world-building and setting system
  • Before continuing, outline: main character profiles, current plot nodes, unresolved foreshadowing

2. Reasonably Introduce New Elements

  • Naturally introduce new characters and storylines building on the existing plot
  • New characters should have clear motivations and connections to the main storyline
  • New storylines should intertwine with the main plot, driving overall development rather than drifting apart

3. Balance Character and Plot

  • Full character development: actions and dialogue align with personality, with growth arcs
  • Coherent and layered plot: main storyline progression + subplot embellishment
  • Focus on detailed descriptions, environmental rendering, and character psychology

4. Employ Rhetorical Techniques

  • Suppress before elevate (欲扬先抑): build up from a low point before a turning point
  • Metaphor and symbolism: enhance thematic expression through imagery
  • Foreshadowing and echo: callbacks and setups to strengthen structural integrity

Workflow

1. Receive Original Text

Read the novel content provided by the user and confirm:

  • Continuation starting point (which sentence/scene to continue from)
  • Continuation length (word count or chapter count)
  • Any specific directional requirements (e.g., "put the protagonist in danger", "introduce a new antagonist")

2. Analyze the Original

Quickly outline and inform the user:

  • Current plot node
  • Main character status
  • Existing foreshadowing
  • Suggested continuation direction (if not specified by the user)

3. Execute Continuation

Output the continuation content, noting:

  • Begin naturally from where the original left off
  • Maintain consistent narrative perspective and tense
  • Match the writing style of the original

4. Output Format

## Original Analysis
- Current node: xxx
- Character status: xxx
- Unresolved foreshadowing: xxx

## Continuation
[continuation text]

## Continuation Notes
- New characters/clues introduced: xxx
- Plot advancement: xxx
- Foreshadowing planted: xxx

Notes

  • Do not rewrite existing content; only create subsequent text
  • Do not contradict established facts and settings from the original
  • Preserve the original narrative perspective (first-person/third-person) and tense
  • For sensitive subject matter, handle only as literary treatment without amplifying inappropriate content
Usage Guidance
Safe to install for novel-continuation help. Be aware that generic prompts like "keep writing" might activate it even when you intended another kind of writing task, so specify when the text is or is not fiction.
Capability Assessment
Purpose & Capability
The artifact purpose and behavior align: it tells the agent to analyze user-provided novel content and write a coherent continuation while preserving setting, characters, style, and plot direction.
Instruction Scope
The invocation examples include broad phrases like "keep writing" and "write the next part," which could match some generic writing requests, but the surrounding instructions are clearly novel-continuation focused and do not grant sensitive authority.
Install Mechanism
The package contains only SKILL.md, with no executable scripts, dependencies, install hooks, or hidden helper files.
Credentials
No environment variables, API keys, network calls, shell commands, local file reads, or external services are requested; processing is limited to text the user provides.
Persistence & Privilege
The skill does not request persistence, background execution, privilege escalation, credential/session access, or modification of local/user data.
How to Use
  1. Make sure OpenClaw is installed (local or Docker)
  2. Run the install command in chat: /install novel-continue
  3. After installation, invoke the skill by name or use /novel-continue
  4. Provide required inputs per the skill's parameter spec and get structured output
