Description
Integrates and debugs third-party REST and GraphQL APIs: auth, rate limits, pagination, webhooks, with reference for 147 services. Use when calling Stripe, OpenAI, GitHub, Slack, Twilio, or any external service, when a request that should work returns 401, 403, or 429, times out, hits a CORS error, or silently returns wrong data, when choosing an OAuth flow, signing requests, adding retries with backoff and idempotency keys, verifying webhook signatures, consuming SSE streams, uploading files, polling async jobs, caching with ETags, or syncing API data into a local database — with per-service gotchas and curl examples. Not for designing or building your own API.
Usage Guidance
Before installing, decide whether you want this skill to read and write API preference and memory files under ~/Clawic/data/api/. Review that directory periodically and do not let it store account identifiers, credentials, confidential request data, or stale assumptions. Use sandbox or scoped temporary credentials for examples, avoid unredacted verbose logs, and require explicit confirmation before live payment, crypto, deletion, posting, or moderation actions.
Capability Assessment
⚠ Credentials
Credential and network examples are expected for API documentation, but some examples put credentials in URLs or literal command arguments and debug guidance recommends verbose logs that can print expanded secrets.
✓ Install Mechanism
The artifact is markdown/json documentation only; I found no executable installer, bundled script, dependency install, or remote payload execution.
⚠ Instruction Scope
setup.md instructs agents to read and migrate local preference/memory files and to record observed patterns the user did not explicitly state, which exceeds a static reference skill's core need.
⚠ Persistence & Privilege
The skill writes under ~/Clawic/data/api/ and may persist services, accounts, past pain points, and inferred behavior without a retention period, deletion flow, permission guidance, or clear consent step.
⚠ Purpose & Capability
The broad API-reference purpose is coherent, but the content includes high-impact write examples such as payments, crypto sends, and public chat/message actions without consistent explicit warnings or confirmation guidance at the example sites.
How to Use
  1. Make sure OpenClaw is installed (local or Docker)
  2. Run the install command in chat: /install api
  3. After installation, invoke the skill by name or use /api
  4. Provide required inputs per the skill's parameter spec and get structured output
Version History
v1.3.7
Full coverage pass: deeper guides, situation-named files, and per-user configuration
v1.3.6
Deeper API design heuristics and failure playbooks
v1.3.5
Translated remaining reference content to English
v1.3.4
- Added new API reference files organized by category (e.g., ai-ml, communication, crm, database, etc.) - Introduced documentation for pagination, resilience (error handling), and webhook patterns - Added a quick reference for multi-account credential naming via the new `credentials.md` - Expanded the Quick Reference table and updated file organization details - No changes to core logic; content and navigation improvements only
v1.3.3
- Removed 13 API reference and pattern documentation files, including all category files under "apis/" (ai-ml.md, payments.md, communication.md, etc.) as well as pagination.md, resilience.md, and webhooks.md. - This significantly reduces available API documentation, removing detailed guides and references for 147 third-party services.
v1.3.2
No user-facing changes in this release. - Version bumped from 1.3.1 to 1.3.2 with no file changes detected.
v1.3.1
- Documentation-only skill: now provides API reference, authentication patterns, endpoints, and common gotchas for 147 services. - Simplified quick reference and removed details about credential storage and file management. - Updated setup and core rules to focus on documentation and user responsibility for API calls. - Removed references to persistent credential/account management and the memory template file. - Streamlined examples and navigation instructions for finding API documentation within category files.
v1.3.0
147 APIs consolidated into 16 category files with index navigation system.
