Description
Airtable API integration with managed OAuth. Manage bases, tables, and records. Use this skill when users want to read, create, update, or delete Airtable records, or query data with filter formulas. For other third party apps, use the api-gateway skill (https://clawhub.ai/byungkyu/api-gateway). Calls run through the `maton` CLI with OAuth login, or over raw HTTP with a Maton API key where the CLI cannot be installed. Every call is authenticated as the user's connection and reaches only what that connection's authorization allows, which the provider enforces on every request; the endpoints documented here are the ones this skill uses, and any other endpoint of this app needs the user to ask for it by name. Default to read and list calls, and confirm every write or new connection with the user. This file also documents the three constructs that turn an Airtable connection into automation, in the order they are used: the connection (the first step), a hosted function that runs an Airtable action through the Maton SDK, and a trigger that calls that function on a schedule or on an event. Those sections are the platform's own reference text, shared with the api-gateway skill, with Airtable examples; they add no Airtable capability - Airtable is not an event source, a trigger cannot read Airtable data, and the files under `references/<source>/triggers.md` are the platform's event catalogues for the sources Maton offers (time, Calendly, GitHub, Gmail, HubSpot, Linear, Notion, Slack, Stripe).
Usage Guidance
Install only if you trust Maton with your Airtable connection. Prefer OAuth through the CLI, grant the narrowest Airtable scopes available, confirm every write/delete or automation before it runs, and review any trigger destination carefully because it can forward future event data continuously until removed.
Capability Assessment
ℹ Credentials
Network access, OAuth login, and access to the user's authorized Airtable data are proportionate to the stated API integration; raw API key use is documented only as a fallback when the CLI is unavailable.
ℹ Install Mechanism
It installs a pinned Maton CLI via npm or Homebrew and optionally SDK packages; this is expected for the integration, but users should understand it adds a local authenticated CLI.
✓ Instruction Scope
Instructions default to read/list operations and require explicit user approval for new connections, writes, deletes, hosted functions, trigger destinations, and local event execution.
ℹ Persistence & Privilege
The skill documents credential storage, hosted functions, scheduled/event triggers, and persistent destinations, but it repeatedly scopes them to user-approved actions and warns about ongoing data forwarding and credential handling.
✓ Purpose & Capability
The skill purpose is Airtable CRUD and querying through Maton OAuth/API gateway; the documented commands and endpoint examples match that purpose.
How to Use
  1. Make sure OpenClaw is installed (local or Docker)
  2. Run the install command in chat: /install airtable
  3. After installation, invoke the skill by name or use /airtable
  4. Provide required inputs per the skill's parameter spec and get structured output
Version History
v1.2.6
Simplify the login instructions to the code flow (maton login prints a link; finish with maton login --code <CODE>), drop the API Key subsection, and pin the Maton CLI install to 0.4.0.
v1.2.5
Switch the login instructions to the device flow (maton login prints a link and a user code; the --oauth flag is gone) and pin the Maton CLI install to 0.3.5.
v1.2.4
Pin the Maton CLI install to 0.3.4, the current release.
v1.2.3
Add this skill's own trigger policy to the shared Triggers section: the only destination it sets up is its own hosted function inside the platform, it does not forward events to third-party hosts, and it does not use event watch --exec; each trigger reference now also says this skill configures no trigger from that source on its own.
v1.2.2
Bring the skill to the current api-gateway baseline and tell the connection-to-function-to-trigger story: the shared Functions and Triggers sections open with an example for this app (a hosted function that performs one action for it through the Maton SDK, and the trigger that runs it - its own event source where it has one, otherwise a time schedule), the description says these constructs turn the connection into automation and add no capability of their own, the passthrough is described by its enforced boundary, CLI and SDK installs are pinned to 0.3.1, absolute API URLs are placeholders, and multipart uploads use mktemp.
v1.2.1
CLI-first rewrite with the Maton SDK examples; clarify that the CLI and SDKs keep separate credential stores, and reword webhook egress warnings
v1.2.0
Appendix drops the raw curl example; SkillSpector 2.11 static findings addressed across the reference; HTTP blocks replaced with maton api
v1.1.2
Restore display name
v1.1.1
Restore display name
v1.1.0
CLI-first rewrite: the maton CLI with OAuth login is the documented path, every example is a maton command, SDK examples added, and the raw HTTP fallback feeds the key on stdin instead of reading it from the environment
v1.0.7
- Switched all API and connection endpoints from `gateway.maton.ai`/`ctrl.maton.ai` to `api.maton.ai`. - Updated SKILL.md metadata to add a `homepage` field with the Maton homepage link. - Revised documentation to clarify connection header usage: always include `Maton-Connection` if you have multiple connections. - Added a new "Security & Permissions" section emphasizing the requirement for explicit user approval for write operations. - Removed the LICENSE.txt file from the skill.
v1.0.6
- Added the clawdbot metadata section with emoji, env variable requirements, and improved structure. - No changes to code or logic; documentation updated with skill metadata enhancements.
v1.0.5
No user-facing changes detected in this release. - No file changes or documentation updates were identified for version 1.0.5.
v1.0.4
- All shell (`curl`) connection and management examples are now provided in Python for improved cross-platform compatibility. - A new troubleshooting section details steps to resolve "Invalid API key" errors. - Quick Start and connection management code samples have switched from shell commands to Python scripts using standard library modules. - No changes to the core functionality or API endpoints.
v1.0.3
- Added a note stating to use the api-gateway skill for third-party apps other than Airtable. - Updated the description to mention the api-gateway skill and provide its URL. - Clarified curl usage: use curl -g when URLs contain brackets and cautioned about environment variable expansion when piping output. - No changes to actual API endpoints or authentication—documentation improvements only.
v1.0.2
- Clarified the gateway base URL and how to construct native API paths. - Added guidance for specifying a particular Airtable OAuth connection using the Maton-Connection header. - Updated the sample OAuth connection response with additional metadata fields. - Improved instructions for obtaining an API key and handling multiple connections. - No code or functional changes; documentation improvements only.
v1.0.1
- Added new "Get Connection" endpoint to the documentation. - Included example response for retrieving a specific connection. - No changes to core functionality or API—documentation improvements only.
v1.0.0
Airtable skill v1.0.0 released: - Provides comprehensive integration with Airtable API, supporting full CRUD operations on bases, tables, and records. - Managed OAuth authentication via Maton, requiring a valid API key. - Includes detailed documentation on endpoints, filter queries, and pagination. - Offers example code snippets in Bash, JavaScript, and Python. - Outlines connection management steps and error handling for common issues.
